As you walk into Flamenkana, you smell deliciousness - cinnamon, coriander, roasted almonds. The restaurant is small and cozy - few tables indoors and a few outside on a beautiful Plaza del Banco, featuring a gorgeous banyan tree and smelling of orange blossoms.

The menu offers a wide selection of delicious homemade food from various African countries, including Nigeria, Senegal and Morocco. We loved Zobo, Nigerian/Senegalese non-alcoholic hibiscus infusion with spices served ice cold — a bit sweet and very refreshing. Other plates we loved were phyllo dough chicken pastry (Moroccan specialty with cinnamon and powder sugar), maffe (Senegalese beef in peanut sauce stew over rice), beef tagine (I was ready to lick the clay pot by the time I finished it). The baklava was out of this world and so were other desserts we tried. Another wonderful surprise was finger-licking good vegan chocolate ice cream. Tuesday-Saturday, Flamenkana serves breakfast, featuring tasty pancakes (our kids loved them!).

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The owner is a remarkable lady from Nigeria, who runs the restaurant and is the main chef. She has clearly put so much love in Flamenkana.

In a town so famous for Spanish food, sherry, flamenco and equestrian arts, Flamenkana is a rare gem, demonstrating a thriving immigrant culture, which too has become an important part of Jerez’s and Andalusian life. Visited by locals and tourists, Flamenkana is a welcome addition to the...

It was solely based on previous reviews that we chose to dine at Flamenkana. And we are so glad we did. A real family based atmosphere delivered by the owner, Helen and her team. She is very friendly and forthcoming in suggestions for food, which she lovingly prepares herself. We had suya with prawns and jollof rice with chicken. The portions were just right for two of us. And the taste- super, and cooked to perfection. These are typical Nigerian dishes, though there are many other cuisine options available. The place has just been in existence for about a year and a half, but has grown to have steady clientele from as far as Seville, since this type of food is not available elsewhere in the region. We wish her all the best and a big thanks for the...

Delight your tastebuds with this international menu that supports cuisine from at least three countries on the African continent: Senegal, Nigeria, and Morocco. Don’t skimp on using the sauces because it’s where the magic happens. Flavor galore, delightful staff, citronella candles 🙏🏾 Make reservations for parties of five or more and I highly recommend ordering several dishes and sharing. Come back again and again trying items from each of the countries featured on the menu for a taste of Africa you’ll both soon forget. Support Black-Owned ✊🏾businesses abroad✨
