El taperio — Restaurant in La Oliva

We were on a quick visit to El Cotillo with my wife and my kids and after a walk around and spending a few hours at the beach, we decided to stop in this restaurant before heading back to Corralejo. We ordered more than we expected but we only left a bit of fried squids that we could then bring home for dinner. Except for that, we tried home made dishes such as tortilla with red peppers, ropa vieja, squid rings with sauce and baked potatoes, fish croquettes with fries and to drink we had some water, a coke, a juice as well as 2 cortados to end the lunch - everything for 50€ and we expected to pay at least 15-20€ more. Many locals were having lunch there so I confirm the food is great as well as prices and the atmosphere inside. Great for a family lunch break - be aware that there are 6 steps to get in the restaurant but it’s very easy to bring the buggy upstairs. I suggest this place...

After reading great reviews, we were very disappointed. We ordered the Garlic Mushrooms and Shrimps which took an age to arrive. The charge of €13.40 pp was considered over priced for the number of prawns (6). The dish was very tasty, however we asked for some bread to mop up the juices. Despite asking twice, they eventually asked if we still wanted the bread as by this time we had finished the dishes even though we ate very slowly in anticipation...

I can't speak for the food since we never had a chance to order our food. We got in and asked if we could order from the bar since all table were full. They told us there was no problem, but then we have been ignored for more than half an hour despite repeatedly asking if we could order.
