we were excited before visiting after all the hype around this place. Probably the host wasn't in the mood. The excitement was ruined by his rude attitude from the start. Probably because we were not reminding him "moneybags" so we didn't get the service as the rest of the customers which were much "worthy" to take care of. More than that the check we received was handwritten, and later at home after recalculating I've realized that we were tricked to leave a little bit more of la mancia than we planned. I am more than happy to leave a good tip for the good service I've received than to be tricked after no service.
Respond to the owners comment: first of all you wrote my name wrong. Which again shows zero respect. Second, u took our reservation with a long face, welcomed us with a long face and forced us to make an order with a long face even when I've asked just to stick with starters for a couple minutes because I need more time to choose something that my son would eat. In other restaurants the respond would have been:"sure I come back in couple moments, take your time" or "maybe I can help you with it?" You literally pushed me to order for him spaghetti with butter. Which I honestly can cook for him at home. What's the point to visit your fancy place then? We waited as well with empty plates quite long while u were walking back and forward with hands behind your back, and also we waited for the bill quite long because you prefer to give attention and talk with other customers.
Yeah. Food was ok, but didn't please me because I felt like in the...
Read moreFirst thing - book. This seems to be a big thing in Corralejo these days and it's not a big place.
Another thing I think worth noting. I've been to dozens of italian restaraunts and they usually have really large menus. I only notice this because I'm a really fussy eater to often struggle with smaller menus. If you're like me then you should check out the menu first - for example I'm not big on cheeses and there were a lot of meals with blue cheeses in there.
As I mentioned I'm not big on cheese and often I'll only eat cheddar or cooked mozzarella. My wife wanted a starter and despite having never eaten raw mozzarella and not liking parma ham/proscuitto or salad, I had that as a starter. It was really fresh and I actually wolfed it down.
For the mains my wife had a seafood ravioli (which she loved) and I had pasta All'Amatriciana which a) I thought I knew how to cook and b) how to pronounce. I think the main difference was the meat. You're meant to use a fatty pork meat (guancale?) that isn't available in most supermarkets, but you can use panchetta. Turns out that you shouldn't. It was awesome.
Staff were lovely and it was a great vibe.
Avoid if you don't like geese. There's a...
Read moreLove love love this place. My only regret is that I could not bring the staff and restaurant back to the UK. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table, we were given time to browse the menu and the special’s board was explained thoroughly to us. Nothing was rushed. We ordered a bottle of fizz to go with our meal, also water. Both hubby and I, had the bruschetta. Wish I had asked for the recipes for each of the three different slices served to us. Hubby had the beef, it melted in the mouth and I stuck to Spag Bol. We didn’t need a pudding but how can you go to an Italian and not have a tiramisu? It was smooth and creamy. To end we were given a complimentary shot of limoncello… the whole dinner was gorgeous from start to finish. This is a small restaurant, but you could tell everything was cooked from scratch, nothing was rushed and staff were attentive, polite, knowledgable and more importantly friendly. Wish we were still on hols so we...
