McCarthys Irish Pub Corralejo — Restaurant in La Oliva

An Absolute Gem for Any Connoisseur of Fine Irish whisky and Atmosphere What a fantastic place. As someone who truly appreciates quality good drinks and attitude I can say this spot delivers on every level. The atmosphere is rich with warmth and authenticity – a proper Irish family-run establishment where you feel the heart and soul the moment you walk in.

We were looked after by Sadie, who was exceptional – knowledgeable, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what she does. We enjoyed a glass of Macallan 18 Year Old and the 2022 Rare Cask – both served exactly how id expect with lux that any whisky lover would appreciate. The Guinness was also a standout – a proper pint, just as it should be.

This isn’t just a bar – it’s a place that respects quality, heritage, and good company. Whether you’re a whisky enthusiast, a Guinness traditionalist, or simply someone who values genuine hospitality, this place ticks every box.

Highly recommended – we’ll definitely be returning....

BREXIT IN MOTION? We went here for a pint tonight. The apparent owner of McCarthy's Bar in Corralejo in Fuertoventura didn't serve us and instead just talked to Irish guests, we sat at the bar for 15 minutes while he served other people (all strong Irish accents and Scottish) ... eventually his Spanish barmaid served us. Okay, not Brexit in motion, that comment wasn't needed, but I literally sat and waved a 10 Euro note for over 10 minutes and was ignored at close quarters as the picture shows. Still, there's no need to be unkind and as the owner's reply to this review (which I have now edited slightly) does show, they were open on Christmas Eve (which is surely part of being in the trade, rather than some magnanimous act of philanthropy)... On the plus side, although it was the most expensive place we paid for a beer all week, the atmosphere was really genuine and the decor is lovely and the Guinness...

I’m sorry to say that we had a really horrible experience at this bar tonight. It was a busy night and we had to stand near the bar. We were asked to move by the bar tender (youngish with dark hair) but unfortunately there was nowhere to go. The next thing that happened was my drink went missing from the bar. I Informed the barman and he replied that I should have moved. I felt that he had done this purposely to make a point. I have never experience such a terrible attitude before in a bar in corralejo. We have been in this bar several times over the years but I can honestly say that we will never return. The live musician was derogatory to who ever walked in whilst making fun of them. I wouldn’t recommend this bar anymore. PS on my request the bar tender did return my money for the drink that...
