About the friendliest and most welcoming people in the Fisherman "Pescador" restaurant. One thing Wifey and Hubby don't like is the hovering nature of the restaurant greeter. Sometimes you just want to look at the menu and just browse. With so much competition, they can be a little pushy. The greeter backed off immediately when we just said we were browsing. It just gave us a chance to read the menu with out pressure, and that was welcomed here. Once we did committed and sat inside. The staff matched our energy, chatting and smiling with us. We decided on tapas and perhaps ordered way too much... But had to try it all. Our table was way too small, our eyes way too big, but our stomachs were very hungry. But what saved us the most, was the fact that you can order half portion tapas dishes. Some of them we did, and that allows you to experience more which we certainly did enjoy. We ordered the patron peppers, meatballs, canarian potatoes, Spanish Sausage, aubergine cheese, dates in bacon, nachos. Every dish hit the mark and absolutely surpassed... bar one. The meat balls and the Spanish sausage my favorite, the wifey loved the dates in bacon, and I have to admit it was a very unusual but tasty combination. The patron peppers and canarian potatoes were the usual high quality dishes as expected here. And aubergine cheese was great too. Sadly the only one that didn't hit for me was the nachos, sadly due to the sauces were very weak. All the sauces where far too runny, dripping off the chip. The cheese sauce was lacking in any real taste, you could not tell if there was cheese in it. The spicy sauce was weak a mild tomato, and the guacamole was ok. But that remains the only criticism of this place. Just a fair warning, if you want a good night and evening meal make sure be here sharp at 7-7:30 or book your table. Take your time eating and drinking here to make a night of it. Live music and the acts start at around 9, and this restaurant offers one of the best seats in the music market experience. One that you won't be disappointed with if you eat, drink and experience at...
Read moreThe El Pescador is ideally located adjacent to the music Square and always busy about the 8 o’clock mark, think this is so it coincides with the evening entertainment. Which to be honest is very good. We managed to get squeezed into this place with some re-shuffling of the chairs. Ordered some Sardines and Mussels for a starter, for a starter Mussel we got 5 medium sized shells - €6 OMG….a sirloin medium rare for myself and my pals ordered a medium done chateaubriand steak. Well my sirloin must had been under the salamander until the chateau was ready to be served, it was like medium to well done. NOT A HAPPY CHAPPY - the meat did not melt in the mouth and took some chewing. They did ask if it was OK but I didn’t want to wait whilst my pals with diving into the theirs which was devine. The meat was done medium to rare perfect. So the waiter did his cheffy thing like flambeau which was entertaining for 10 seconds. So overall nice experience, staff attentive and food was OK, disappointing about my steak so massively marking the score for this place. Reasonably...
