Came across Taco Wey whilst hunting for a place to eat last night. Initial impressions were very good. We sat down after just being pointed to a table by a waitress it turns out spoke absolutely no English despite being located in an area that is clearly geared towards English. The service was what can only be described at best a miserable. The food itself was very good, the Chicken Croquettes were very tasty and most of us went for the BBQ pork burrito whilst one of our party had the Pork tacos (which he asked for without onions but still came with onions) which we all enjoyed alot. When it came to desert however the Tres Leche cake was unavailable which we were not made aware of before, one of our parties also ordered the Nutella cake which we were only informed of when they brought us the other deserts we had ordered. I had the Toffee Fondent which tasted very nice, until i happened to come across a rather large shard of glass in the centre of the desert, luckily i chew my food so found this before i had swallowed and choked cutting all my insides to shreds. I informed the staff at the restaurant who obviously didnt think this was a big deal as asked if i just wanted another desert or just didnt want to pay for a desert which could have caused me harm. They then offered a rather pathetic 10% discount off the rest of the bill to compensate this. I then paid for the bill only to discover another member of our party had kindly already paid as a surprise and was told by the staff this was not possible despite locating the receipts that we both had. This was eventually very reluctantly refunded to one of the parties with no apology after being made to feel like we hade made up the fact we had both paid despite both having the receipts. All in all, the food was very much enjoyed however i can only give 1 star after finding glass within. The service was lacking any sort of hospitality, we will not be...
Read moreI sincerely hope last night's experience in Taco Wey is not the normal, otherwise this place would close, which would be a shame as it looks good and offers something different to many of the eating establishments in corralejo. The food isn't bad but the service was terrible from waiting to get a table in a fairly empty restaurant, all the way through to the ridiculously long wait for starters, mains and even drinks. Not once did anyone come over to see if we wanted drinks other than our initial order. We never received any cutlery or napkins until we went looking for them. When our mains eventually came out, it was a dish at a time and my daughter in our group of 6, had just about finished her meal by the time I got mine. If that wasn't bad enough, after several bites of mine, they actually brought over what I did order but it was too late then as I had started eating someone elses burrito. If this place had of been busy at the time I could easily forgive and forget but watching the incompetence of the staff wondering around, not knowing what they were doing, taking food to the wrong tables and generally looking like inexperienced school kids on a work experience project, made me feel that this establishment needs to take a good look at itself and try to offer better customer care than what we received last night. I wish we were the only ones that suffered from the ridiculously long waits and poor service but as we sat there with no drinks or food, we watched other people's frustration at recieving equally disappointing service. Please get it together Taco Wey as I'd love to visit again next year as from the outside it's in a good location, looks good and is decent food at a good price although others in my group wasn't impressed but I think the service tainted their opinion...
Read moreThis place could be fantastic but the service is a real let down. We sat down and waited 15 min before anyone brought any menus to us even though the same woman greeted us. There was only 2 other occupied tables with a couple on each. It took a further 15 minutes for some one to come and take our order. We then had to wait an hour and a half before the food was brought out. In this time I witnessed the wrong food being brought to the other two tables and with a mother family having sat down in this time they proceeded to wait 20 min before any menus were brought to them. When or food was brought it came out in drips and drabs which meant that we all ate at different times. The extra sides that were ordered never came. The waitress was doing her best as she was on her own, taking orders, serving drinks, cleaning tables etc but this was not a busy time and clearly the kitchen and waitress were way out of their depth. It’s worth noting there were two others at the bar that were clearly “senior” management who didn’t lift a finger to help and didn’t care the amount of food that was being returned. The food wasn’t bad but it’s a lucky dip if you get what you ordered or even or when you get it. I wouldn’t waste my time going back here. If the management read this - you really need to take a look...
