The reviews looked good for this place so we gave it a go tonight. Big Mistake.
We were given a table no problem. Then we were asked if we wanted the Spanish menu or the English menu, I asked for the English menu and the look on the waiters face said it all. I got the feeling throughout the whole evening that the English weren't particularly welcome in this restaurant.
It was difficult to order food as the waiters struggled to understand although we did our best to help them understand.
The main course was ok, the fish was good but the actual dish wasn't anything special.
My partner asked for strawberries and ice cream for dessert and got strawberry ice cream. When she told them they got it wrong she was told there were no strawberries so she ended up with pineapple and then had the strawberry ice cream dumped on top right in front of her. Then when I got the bill I found that we were charged for both the strawberry ice cream and the Pineapple as two dishes costing €10.50. It was basically some chopped up pineapple with a spoonful of ice cream on top of it. Total rip off.
There are plenty of nice restaurants in the area so I wouldn't waste you time with this one. Especially if you...
Read moreWe attended a lunch at El Arrosar with my wife and my two kids. The paella is delicious and the quantities are very correct. Nevertheless, the service is not what we can expect from a restaurant with such a reputation.
The waiters were very ungentle. First, it's written on the front that they speak English and German. When we entered the restaurant, I said Hello and asked politely if they spoke English. The man answered in Spanish and no one spoke a word of English.
But worse, they neither had a word nor a look at my wife and child, simply like they never existed. It was one of my most uncomfortable experiences in a restaurant for a very long time.
It's a shame to experience such behaviour, we would have taken more (dessert, café, etc.), but we hurried to end this unpleasant moment.
I do not recommend...
Read moreA traditional restaurant with a traditional wooden interior and an extensive menu, focusing on fish/seafood and rice dishes.
The arroz caldoso con bogavante stole the show – perfectly cooked rice and lobster in a rich, flavorful sauce. One of the best rice dishes we have tried thus far!
The starter of crispy croquettes were tasty, but the mussels in marinara sauce disappointed due to thick, flour tasting sauce. The natillas dessert was good, however not silky smooth, rather slightly grainy.
The service left us feeling a bit rushed, as if they were pushing us to leave, despite the restaurant being half empty. The prices are on the higher side, and whilst justifiable for the outstanding rice dishes, the other menu items are not really worth the money. Overall, a great spot if you stick to the Spanish...
