What a good curry fix in Leon in Spain - the first and only Indian restaurant in town (as of summer 2021). It is located very central in Ordoño, 5 mins away from the Cathedral.
We went on a Saturday evening without a reservation and we got a table at street level, no wait and now in summer time it is sweet to eat dinner outside with warm temperatures and daylight until at leat 10pm. There is outdoor and indoor seating which you reach going down a flight of stairs.
We ordered 2 Samosas with meat as starters, then Aloo gobi, Chicken Vindaloo, Beef(!) Karahi, Peshwari Naan and Pilau rice and Cobra beer. For dessert we got a dessert on the house. My absolute favorite was the Peshwari Naan (so soft even after some time) and the chicken vindaloo (but not as as spicy/ hot as I would have expected it to be).
If I had to omit an item or two I would choose the Samosas and the dessert which was a fragrant milk rice (not very sweet but to me to parfumed - however my partner loved it!!).
The service was waiters were very friendly.
The bill came up to just over 50 Euros which for Leon standards is a bit pricey but worth the...
Read moreBest food i have had in spain! Me and my friend are doing the camino de santiago and decided to get lunch in Leon. We spotted the indian restaurant and decided to try it. The waiters were extremely kind and even let us charge our devices. Raja was our waiter and was extremely helpful and spoke perfect english. The menu mediodia wasnt on as it was sunday but he helped us choose dishes on our low budget and we didnt have much money. The food was quite quick and extrwmely nice. The rice was Huge. Raja brought us out some free samosas and popadums and water. Everything was amazong. At the end he brought us out a free dessert of carrot cake which was delicious and for this huge meal only charged 20 euros for us both! It was very filling. If you are in Leon definately come better than mostof the indian food i have tried in...
Read moreFood was ok, but nothing like what a good Indian restaurant serves. The spices were bland, but maybe that's to make the food acceptable to an unaccustomed Spanish public. Not that there were many non-foreigners in the place, and the waitress preferred speaking English to Spanish. The Peshawari naan was thick and unappetising. The pappadums were not fully cooked with some inedible bits. The sauces were good. The service was slow despite the restaurant only having a handful of customers. The waitress confused the order and brought 2 main courses. A good waiter confirms the order before sending it to the kitchen. It's not expensive but given the mediocre quality, it is overpriced. There is a large TV screen showing Bollywood dancers with loud music. It's strange that this place gets such a high rating....
