The property has a great location, but there are several important things to consider before booking.
First, the rooms are quite dated—just like the photos suggest—and unfortunately not very clean. The suite I booked offered plenty of space, but the condition was disappointing. The walls were dirty, doors covered in scratches with peeling paint, and the TV was smaller than a standard computer monitor. The wooden closets were so old and dusty that we didn’t even use them. It’s hard to understand how a hotel with good reviews allows this level of room maintenance. If the intention was to give the room a vintage feel, there are better ways to do so while still keeping it clean and inviting.
The bathroom was the only area that appeared somewhat updated, but it had poor lighting, making it feel dim.
Accessibility is another issue. The hotel entrance has about ten steps and no ramp, which is a major inconvenience for guests with limited mobility or those traveling with heavy luggage—as I was. There is a supposed lift for disabled access, but it seemed to require a special key and wasn’t readily available.
Lastly, parking is a challenge. The front unloading area is very limited—if there are three cars there, you’re out of luck. Be prepared to circle the area or park in the nearest public lot, which is about two blocks away—not ideal if you’re traveling with a family and multiple suitcases.
The only reason I’m giving this hotel 3 stars is because of its excellent location. Otherwise, it would...
Read moreWe stayed in at the Barcelo Leon Conde Luna in late May 2025 as part of a tour with Gate 1 Travel. This was not representative of the other hotels we were booked into on the trip. I would rate this a 2 star hotel, at best. On the positive side, the location is excellent and we enjoyed the varied breakfast options. However, our room was small and desperately in need of updating. The furnishings were worn out and gave the impression of being tired and grimy. The mattress and pillows were really uncomfortable. The A/C did not work well. WiFi was non-existent. There was mold in the bathroom (though the shower was nice, and the towels were of good quality). The refrigerator was overheating its enclosure. There was no in-room coffee or tea or electric kettle. The front desk did provide an electric kettle upon request, which unfortunately had not been cleaned and contained the food residue of a prior guest's misusing it to make soup. We couldn't wait to leave this hotel and can't recommend...
Read moreWe arrived to our hotel and quickly dropped our luggage since we had a lot of things to do, when we came back very late at night we were quite dissapointed to see many details that would make this room feel like a 2 start hotel. Some dirt in the sheets, lots of dust under the bed, very old furniture, the bathroom door would not close, the bathtub would not drain appropriately. However, I went to complain early the next day and they told us that the hotel was under renovation and we would be moved to the renovated section. In this section the room was in perfect shape. We were told that we had paid less money for the room we chose. I answered that I didn't know there would be two very different categories in the same hotel, and that this should be make clear to any guests coming. My evaluation below is for the non-renovated area. The renovated area is quite nice. So my answers would all...
