I arrived without reservation to have dinner, and the main hostess offered me first a table just by the door in the way of running waitresses, so when I asked she instead offered me another table that had another reservation arriving in 1 hour saying I could sit there instead until then since there was no other table. After that new guests were arriving and when I was in the middle of my meal there was a new guest asking for a table without reservation. She offered her one previously reserved, since the reservation had not shown. I was thinking it was strange she would not offer me that first, since I was already an eating guest, but assumed then the reservation was not going to arrive and I could keep eating. Then the waitress came offering desert, which I ordered. Once the desert was ordered, the hostess told me the reservation was arriving and I needed to leave. I told her kindly (I had been coming many times and had loved the restaurant) that i had just ordered a dessert and didn't understand that she would ask me to leave when she had let in3 new companies without reservation after my arrival. She got really pissed and rude to me telling me that was my own fault. Please note the restaurant was very small with only 5 tables inside, so she had been well aware I was there after taking new customers instead of offering me a table before the reserved guests would arrive so I could finish my meal. I then told her I didn't feel comfortable having my dessert then if she was rushing me out the door, and she snapped at me I would have to pay for it anyways in an incredibly rude way. I tried to very quietly ask her please to return and and remove it from my tab since I had to leave, and she got upset and snapped at me instead refusing to do so. I then pleaded for her to at least let me pay so I could leave, and I would pay for the dessert as well, but she just ignored me and walked away. I felt really embarrassed and was getting tears in my face of the humiliation as I waited for a new waiter to please come and give me then bill. I quickly payed and left the humiliation.
I know it was summer, and I understand they were stressed. But the small restaurant does not have high capacity, and I have coming to this place so many times and recommending it to everyone and I felt so humiliated and belittled by who I knew was the mail hostess. I have worked in restaurants for 8 years myself and I know even stressed, there was no excuse for the extremely rude and nasty way the waitress was speaking to me - not to mention the way they would throw out an eating customer and not make sure to give her the table before taking new customers after. I never leave reviews but leaving a restaurant feeling so humiliated by the staff - with no one else trying to find a solution, I think they deserve to hear how she...
Read moreLife is beautiful, but let’s agree that good pasta makes it heaven 😇
Finding a true Italian place in each city I live in is a must for me, and is never really easy given how popular this type of cuisine is. You’ll find dozens of pizzerias and pasta places calling themselves “the real deal”, which most of the time leads to a disappointment when the pasta is over cooked or the pizza soggy.
To make sure I could find that one amazing pasta place in Malaga, I asked my foodie friends for their favorite. The verdict was easy: Radici!
This is not a typical huge restaurant with a super long menu and dozens of options. Far from it! Radici is a cozy place with a “family run business” atmosphere. The kitchen focuses on delivering the best possible version of their star dishes and the staff takes great care to explain to the customers what each option contains. All their pasta is cooked perfectly al dente and comes with a variety of sauces and garnishes. My personal favorite is trofie with gorgonzola and guanciale, or trofie with pesto (though the second one is not on the menu and appears from time to time as a special “dish of the day”).
Dessert - as a fun fact, the first time I went to Radici, I ordered another pasta dish as dessert, so consider that option if you’re as pasta obsessed as me ;) And more seriously, do not miss out on the tiramisú! My recommendation is to ask for it the moment you enter the restaurant or even better - ask the staff to put one aside when making the reservation. It’s not a joke as they are prepared in limited quantities and disappear in the blink of an eye. If indeed Radici runs out of tiramisú, do not despair - ask for a cannolo and already make a reservation to come back, hoping for better dessert luck...
Read moreImpressive! So authentic and simple, everything from their interior to the menu is of such a good taste and so thoroughly thought of. The staff is exceptionally welcoming, the food is beyond great. Once you open the menu you know that these people know what they are doing..They don't flirt with Italian cuisine and don't beat around the bush with the choice of dishes. among these few items you will probably find all of your Italian favorites that you have been yearning for since you took your last trip to Italy. What an amazing little gem in Málaga! Another big perk of this restaurant is that it's not in the middle of the tourist center, yet not far. But it's definitely satisfying for those who prefer quiet, almost intimate dining and cherish real tastes. If I could give more...
