My old review stated: Visited this bar very late just before closing on a Saturday night. The barmen were more than happy to serve us, and the quality of the drinks was excellent. There's a real speakeasy feel about the place and it seems very classy and authentic. Overall, great service.
Oh dear... on a return visit, in the early hours of 11/09/23 at 1.25am we were treated like scum by the barman. The place is open until 2a.m. but we were informed that he had called last orders and would let us in if we left in 20 minutes. Really poor service, we were told where we had to sit and were made to feel uncomfortable. I will say, the usual head barman / possibly owner was not there, and whenever we have been to this bar and he has been working, we have been treated like extremely valued customers. Unfortunately, not on this night. I went to the toilet, and the rude barman hassled my wife for payment. The bar is outside of the centre if Malaga and quite expensive. Therefore, the one attraction has previously been the excellent service. I suspect they have a rogue employee, but it needs to be sorted out if the bar is to be a success.
We've been there twice before and received excellent service, but, unfortunately, I won't...
Read moreThe pharmacy How would I describe The Pharmacy in one word; Healing
In an age where hospitality has been commercialized The Pharmacy is a beacon in Malaga to all with ails. The cocktails which are to die for will surely offer some alleviation of your daily pains. However the hospitality of their staff is what truly drew me in. Let me explain.
While enjoying the afterglow of their Nepali Gimlet (a cocktail with the electrifying sichuan buzz button) I asked one of the waiters for a recommendation. Foolishly I forgot to mention some of my medication reacts badly to grapefruit which their recommendation in question did contain.
Let me mention that I abhor sending anything back. However my health obliged me to do so any way. Fully expecting to pay full price for the cocktail I could not drink. After informing the staff however they promptly removed the drink and offered an alternative. Which was unexpected but certainly not unwelcome.
So this is my health notification for all those in need of a little healing, be it off the alcoholic or societal nature; The Pharmacy’s got...
Read moreI had a few hours to kill in Malaga and decided to spend them over nice cocktails, this is how I ended up at The Pharmacy. Even though it’s called speakasy, you can enter normally, it is not hidden. As soon as I got there, I was impressed with the interior and a beautiful smell inside. There was a slightly unpleasant situation with one person from the staff (I was told by the bartenders I could pick any table, and soon after I sat down, another server told me to move and sit at the bar, using a quite harsh tone). However, after that, it went smoothly. I ordered first drink with mezcal, and then another low alcoholic one. Both were delicious and beautifully prepared. I got a small snack, my water got refilled constantly with a smile (even by that one server :) and I enjoyed the atmosphere in the bar. When I had to use the washroom, the server made sure my drinks were not left unattended, which I really appreciated as a woman. If I come back to Malaga, I would love to give The Pharmacy another chance, despite that bumpy...
