Excellent food, friendly service and a nice ambience. A good option for romantic dinner for two meal for two or small group of family or friends. We shared arancini and they happily increased the number of pieces to be one per person rather than needing to order two servings. The arancini was very flavoursome and moist inside with a crunchy outside and a tasty sauce accompaniment. The pastas were well made with good flavour and a good size of serving so it was not too little or too much. The pizza was also a nice dough and quality ingredients making for good taste. Importantly, The staff were friendly, helpful and responsive plus didn’t forget any requests and were quick to deliver. The time from ordering to the courses and being delivered was reasonable, so it did not feel rushed or did not take too long. Definitely a great option in central Madrid for antipasti and pizza or pastas. A few casual little bars nearby for a drink before or after dinner as well and easily connected with Metro services a...
Read moreÉccolo is one of several "mozzarella bars" that have recently sprung up in Madrid. They serve different mozzarella and burrata dishes, alongside Italian antipasti and pizza. We started with the "burrata pugliese", accompanied by a selection of four types of Italian cured meat ("salumi"). The salumi were amazing but, ironically, the burrata itself was the least convincing part of our dinner: it was unusually dry and hard. But the rest of our dinner was great: both the "parmeggiana" (sliced eggplant, tomatoe sauce, mozzarella and parmigiano cheese) and the margherita pizza. The pizzas have a very thin and soft crust, but the outer ring is fluffy. The dough is darker and "heavier" than usually, maybe because of the flour's high fiber content. There's a selection of craft beers on tap (e.g. La Virgen IPA). My partner and I paid €47 overall, including drinks...
Read moreÉccolo is highly recommended! There was a truffle pasta with mushrooms on the menu (I'm really a truffle addict, but I don't like mushrooms) so I asked if chef Emeliey could replace the mushrooms with shrimp because that's what I always eat in the Netherlands. She made this for me and I have never eaten such delicious truffle pasta in my life! During my 6 day holiday in Madrid I ate this 3 days in a row. When you come to eat here you should definitely try this pasta! the staff is also so sweet, they make me feel very welcome! I will definitely come back especially for the pasta and the staff! Thank you for the super tasty food and for the hospitality! P.s ask for the pasta a...
