(Note that the restaurant has responded that this is a "fake review". If that is the case, I would like a refund on my 46.50 euros that I spent for dinner. I have attached my receipt as proof.) I try not to write negative reviews, but we are still extremely upset by our experience at this restaurant that I had to share so that people who appreciate good thai food do not waste a night out in Madrid like we did.
To start off, service was horrible - we arrived at 8pm, right when they open and there was only one couple there with us until at least 9pm. It took forever to get our appetizers and we only got our entrees at 9pm. I like sitting and enjoying a meal, and generally don't like when my food comes out too fast, but the wait was ridiculous.
We had the beef salad which was the only thing we enjoyed even though the veggies were a bit soggy. We also had the tom kha kai soup which arrived at room temperature! We were in shock! Clearly they were heating up a pot that had been left over from lunch (hopefully not before that). It clearly wasn't fresh and didn't even have authentic Thai ingredients (it had cherry tomatoes and sliced onions) and had maybe 3 slices of chicken. On top of that it was 8.50 euros for an appetizer size soup.
We waited another half an hour for our entrees (which were not served at the same time as each other, nor were the entrees of the couple next to us served together) and the massaman curry came out cold also! When I handed it to the server to heat up I realized the bowl it was served in was hot meaning that they were taking premade food and heating it in the microwave! Our suspicions were confirmed when our red duck curry came out unevenly heated. I have never EVER been served microwaved food at a restaurant, never mind at a Thai restaurant where every curry should be freshly made in the wok for the customer! I am a huge Thai food fan and can eat it for every meal. We were so disgusted and nauseated while we were eating. We should have left but were starving at that point that we didn't think about it until afterwards. Both curries were extremely sweet and the massaman curry was floating in oil.
On top of that, the bill came to over 45 euros. In the Thai food world, at that price you should be getting fantastic value for your money. I honestly have no idea how this restaurant is rated so well. I have never in my life had such a TERRIBLE experience at...
Read moreNOT REAL, VERY DISAPPOINTED ❌️ First of all I went by myself, they told me, " You could only sit here for 1 hour because we have customers here at 9 pm. (I called for a reservation). And 2 customers who walked in the restaurant exactly the same time with me didn't have reservations, but nobody said anything about 1 hour sitting 🤔 Then, a couple of customers walked in without a reservation, and they welcomed them without saying anything about the time frame. Don't say anything about 1 hour.
THE FOOD WERE TOO SWEET. and I didn't see any Thai people in this restaurant.
** I was sitting there till 9:10 pm. Nobody showed up, and some tables were still empty. And I walked past the restaurant again at 9:20 pm. NOBODY WAS ON THAT TABLE. So the 9pm. Reservation was A BIG LIE.
Next time if you don't want to welcome one customer at dinner. You can say (Sorry, our restaurant is fully booked...
Read moreWe came for lunch to bambu box on a saturday in August. We love thai cuisine and were excited to try out a well reviewed thai respaurant in Madrid. They have a decent wine and beer selection, although the beer could have been colder. We started out with the brochetas de pollo(chicken skewers), and they were generously loaded with chicken and topped with a thai style satay sauce. For mains I went with the pad kee mao, and my dining companions ordered the pad thai. I had ordered the pad kee mao extra spicy, since they told me it was a european spice level, but even extra spicy it was pretty mild. The portion was very large and it came with lots of juicy chicken and fresh veggies. I didn’t try the pad thai, but my dining companions were also very satisfied with the quality and portion size. This place is priced a bit higher than other thai restaurants in Madrid, but I find the portion size, location and ambiance make up for the price. I tried to return for the lunch menu a week later, but unfortunately they don’t open for...
