My recent visit to Bresca, an Italian restaurant, was regrettably underwhelming, primarily due to the quality of the pasta. The spaghetti, to be completely honest, fell short of expectations. It appeared to have been overcooked, resulting in a lackluster taste that was reminiscent of water used for dishwashing, and a disheartening texture that resembled mushy, wet cardboard.
Adding to the disappointment, there was a lingering concern about the freshness of the ingredients used. Additionally, there seemed to be a question mark hovering over the authenticity of some of the positive Google reviews, raising doubts about their credibility. I did muster the courage to approach the staff and convey my dissatisfaction, suggesting that they consider replacing the pasta with a fresh batch. Unfortunately, my request was met with a resolute refusal.
To be clear, I wouldn't even recommend this pasta to my worst adversary. It not only fails to honor the essence of Italian cuisine but also deprives those with an appreciation for culinary excellence of a satisfying meal. In the interest of preserving your palate, I earnestly implore you to avoid this restaurant, especially if you have a genuine fondness for quality dining...
Read moreMy recent experience at Bresca, an Italian restaurant, left much to be desired, particularly in the realm of Italian cuisine. The dish I ordered, in particular, was a complete letdown. The pasta, to be frank, was severely overcooked, rendering it limp and with a texture akin to mushy, wet cardboard.
What's even more disconcerting is the suspicion that the restaurant might be serving stale food. Additionally, there's a dubious cloud surrounding the authenticity of many of the positive Google reviews, raising questions about their credibility.
In an attempt to address my dissatisfaction, I mustered the courage to approach the staff and suggested that they prepare a fresh batch of pasta to remedy the situation. Regrettably, my request was met with a resolute denial, which left me further disheartened.
As a friendly piece of advice, I would strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant at all costs, especially if you appreciate the nuances of...
Read moreYou know when you visit a new destination and after days of eating the local cuisine you just fancy something different... that's how we found this place, trusting the various positive reviews. We weren't impressed, however. Service was definitely poor as we were greeted by a series of grunts rather than a nice welcome. It was then downhill from there. I had what is really basic fare in terms of Italian cuisine, tagliatelle with ragù and was hoping and open (having read previous reviews) to a reasonably authentic and scrumptious plate of food. The pasta was well cooked, al dente, but the sauce was pretty tasteless and fairly watery so it didn't really stick to the pasta. I had to ask for extra cheese which arrived with another grunt eventually. I can't confidently recommend this place. There is another Italian place in the market nearby which I would like to try but it was full up that day and I am hoping it will be better...
