Chess Café — Restaurant in Madrid

Super friendly staff and good food. Good selection. We are American and I'm gluten intolerant so finding food in Madrid this past month has been hard. I lost some weight because it seems like everything is bread and bocadillos. Found this place when we switched housing and we've been enjoying the food and drinks. It's not the typical food you find everywhere else and it's definitely got the more American selections. The abracadabra chessburger was a 3/5 but the julio-cesar chicken was a 4/5. My kids love the nuggets, they seem homemade. I got the salmon-avocado salad. The salmon is cured. The smoothies aren't too overly sweet, I tried the kale smoothie but admittedly it tasted mostly like orange juice, though still yummy. The orange juice is homemade and really fresh. The employee gave my kids a free piece of cake both visits, which was so nice. My family reports the carrot cake is moist and not too sweet and they make it in-house. Would definitely recommend, especially if you brought kids, like juices and need options...

I had a deeply disappointing experience at Chess Café in Madrid. Despite the name, the establishment does not provide chess sets, nor do they allow guests to play chess on the premises—which is both misleading and frustrating for anyone visiting with the expectation of enjoying a game.

What made matters worse was the attitude of the staff. I encountered a level of unfriendliness and unprofessionalism that made the visit extremely unpleasant. Instead of creating a welcoming atmosphere, the staff made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.

Tenemos que hablar sobre ChessCafe. Un sitio estupendo al que ir a cualquier momento del dia o de la tarde y ser amablemente atendido. Siempre hemos ido para tomar algo rápido como un granizado o un zumo, pero hoy cenamos allí. Precios bastante justos, platos generosos, todo muy fresco, abundante, rico. Hoy pedimos de entrantes unos nachos con carne, guacamole y cheddar que estaban de rechupete! Tienen miles opciones de zumos,l y batidos en varios tamaños, super pero super ricos, con varias mezclas de frutas, los cafes también bastante buenos. Además hemos pedido una ensalada con gulas y otros ingredientes, vamos, si vas con hambre este es tu sitio por que el plato viene hasta arriba jajaja Mi novio una hamburguesa buenísima que venía con patatas fritas, pero es que todo estaba recién hecho, todo al punto y super bueno. No sé que ha estado mejor, si la comida o la atención de los camareros, no sabemos si eran los dueños. Pero daba gusto! Eran las 22hrs de un domingo cuando entramos, no podríamos haber sido mejor recibidos. Y si lo tuyo es el fútbol, mejor. Ahí tienen por lo menos 3 pantallas grandes. De lujo todo!
