EL TALGO BAR — Restaurant in Madrid

It’s never fun to leave these reviews. I have visited El Talgo twice, and although the first time was a good experience with decent food (although quite expensive) and service, the second visit was so disagreeable that even my Spanish partner told me she would not return to this restaurant.

The second visit was on the terrace, which is a nice atmosphere, but that was the only good thing about this visit. The first disappointment came. When one of the dishes we ordered was not available, which is a shame, considering that the menu is very small to begin with. The second and third disappointments were the dishes that we ordered, which were the bravas and the chicken wings. The bravas were perhaps some of the worst I’ve ever had, and the chicken wings were some thing that I could easily have prepared, basic wings with soy sauce on top. There are many other restaurants with Trish is on the same street and on Calle Ibiza with better quality for the price. I highly recommend the Greek restaurant, a few doors down or on calle...

Really great atmosphere with ambient vibes. Probably some of the best customer service I’ve had in Madrid. My lovely waitress, Ana, literally went over everything in English with me to help me decide what to get in the most thoughtful and expressive way! The food was amazing, they serve you multiple types of bread and the olives are hands down the best olives I’ve ever had. I would go back there to buy a jar of olives I’m not even kidding. My brother, his girlfriend, and me shared the papatas bravas to start and it did not disappoint! I ordered the salmon with crispy skin, very tasty, my brother got the wings, (I stole one due to how good it looked and it was lol), abs his gf got a meal with eggs, ham, and potatoes and I also stole a bite of that and it was delicious. We ended with the brownie and lavender ice cream dessert and perfect :) 5/5 for food, service, ambiance, and location....

En una zona donde el nivel hostelero es estratosférico, elegir al mejor es tarea imposible. Hay muchos sitios y muy buenos por lo que acordar cuál es el n°1 sería difícil, sin embargo quien conozca la zona y los distintos restaurantes estará de acuerdo conmigo en que se puede afirmar sin ningún género de duda que "El Talgo" es un serio candidato a ese título oficioso. ¿Los motivos? Cocina insuperable y que comprende desde unos clásicos como la ensaladilla (soberbia!) o los huevos con papada, pasando por una deliciosa cecina de León a platos mucho más sofisticados y que desvelan que en los fogones hay más calidad que en la España del Mundial de Surafrica. (Por cierto, la carta se va renovando constantemente y siempre hay sorpresas agradables.)

El otro motivo que me hace afirmar que "El Talgo" es un Grande, y no sólo de Madrid (posiblemente también de España) es el personal y el trato que regalan. Es un absoluto privilegio ser atendido allí, diría que te hacen sentir como en casa pero no sería cierto ya que en ninguna casa te tratan así de bien, ni aunque sólo vuelvas a casa por Navidad, como El Almendro. La cara visible de "El Talgo" con Ana y Tali a la cabeza (aunque todos son fantásticos) te hacen sentir lo que sentías años, muchos años, atrás. Como en la noche de Reyes; ilusionado, expectante y contento, envuelto en un ambiente de calidez y confort que pocas veces sentimos siendo mayores. Sin duda, una gratísima experiencia en todos los sentidos.

Sí Uds quieren escapar temporalmente de un mundo hostil y en ocasiones insufrible, no lo duden, vayan a "El Talgo". Les reconciliará con la vida: comerán muy bien, disfrutaran del ambiente sumamente agradable que tenían las casas de los familiares queridos y les tratarán con el cariño que sólo puede transmitir quien ama de verdad su trabajo.

Eso sí, tengan a bien dejarme un pequeño sitio para mí...
