The order was given to me and I was specifically asked to “check if it is OK?” while standing at the door (take out order). First of all, it is not my job to check if the box contained the correct pizza - this is part of the service. Since I was not expecting that question, I opened the box and without really checking the ingredients of the pizza I was about to say “yeah I’m sure it is fine” but before I do so, the “service” person told me “you see? it is correct. Thank you and have a good night” and I indeed thanked them back and closed the door. As the whole situation did not seem right, I reopened the box to realise that indeed that was a completely different pizza from the one I ordered. Returned back inside and told the “service” person that “FYI this is not the pizza I ordered and I don’t understand why you gave it to me while you knew it is not the right one?”. They suddenly did not understand English and stepped back. Their colleagues offered to replace the pizza but I refused as I could not wait another 20 mins or so and told them that is OK. However, what was NOT ok is the fact that they did not respect the money and time I spent. I was expecting way more from a restaurant with foreign cuisine in the heart of an international neighbourhood of the city of Madrid. Hopefully, this review will save someone else’s...
Read moreWas expecting good food having seen some favourable reviews. Turned out to be the complete opposite and a huge disappointment.
Ordered a seafood pasta dish and a pizza. The pasta dish was so salty, we thought they they accidentally washed it/cooked it in seawater. Despite the waiters bringing us water, we couldn't finish even half the dish.
The pizza looked all right when it came out, but when I cut into it and started taking bites, all the toppings fell off. The dough was also completely soggy. It all created a gooey disgusting fluid mess on the plate. The manager was very defensive and said that this is how Italian pizza should be (in which case I would avoid Italian 'fluid pizza' at all costs).
The only reason this is not a one star review is because they gave us the drinks for free in the end, seeing that we were suffering and struggling to finish our meals.
Also, this restaurant gave us good giggles for the rest of our trip, every time we remembered that we once got served...
Read moreWe had a lovely dinner at Fratelli d'Italia last night. After spending about an hour walking around the centre and looking at various different places which were either too expensive, too long of a wait or not quite what we fancied, we finally found Fratelli d'Italia! The inside is so very cute and homely. The waiters managed to find us a table and we sat, decided, and didn't have to wait long for our pizzas.
The pizza was nice, nothing spectacular but still tasty. I found that the ‘prosciutto’ (which was actually just jamón york/cooked ham - it does say this on the menu) didn't really taste of much and didn't add much to the pizza. The cheese was yummy!
To accompany we had a nice bottle of rosé. All single glasses are between 3.50-4.20€ and bottles are around 15-25€. And we also decided to try the Nutella tiramisu which was absolutely delicious - the Nutella cream was so so so good. Very tasty.
Definitely a place that I'll be coming back to - the pasta dishes also...
