Grosso Napoletano — Restaurant in Madrid

Pizza is yummy with authentic ingredients, wine is good but getting seated one hour before close in a near empty place left a bad taste. After saying I want a table, not bar, I’m proceeded to a communal table. I move to one of the other many open tables and I am told I HAVE to sit at the communal table despite many tables being open. After asking why, I asked for a table and there are many open, I’m given excuses that the zone is close and has already been cleaned and will be sterilized tomorrow. So we settle for one that isn’t the booth but thankfully not communal table. It’s a shame, please treat solo eaters the same as a party of 3 please. Would of love to feel more welcomed in almost empty space… maybe a different location or takeout next time. Eating out is an experience, its not just about good food…

Very cheerful place to eat.

The pizza makers talk to each other in Italian, which gives a very cool touch to the whole experience.

We ordered a Margherita and a Quattro Formaggio, soft drinks and an interesting Oro beer (which is served in ice cubes). The Margherita was great, the Quattro Formaggio lacked sauce, but I take the loss since I forgot this is how it is served in most of Napolitan pizzerias.

The only thing that slightly bothered me was the fact that we had to eat minding the clock, since the waiter who answered us at the door said we had about an hour to finish our meal (since we had no reserve), which was strange since there were lots of empty tables by the time we arrived. The worst service I’ve ever had in my entire life. Genuinely waited for an entire hour between each course, waiting over an hour for our dessert. By the time the waiter finally came to take our order, they told us the kitchen was closed and we couldn’t order dessert (which was included in our meal). We had been there for 3 hours at this point. They finally came with our bill and charged us for a bunch of stuff incorrectly. Then took an absurd amount of time to come back with the right check.
