Hakuna Matata Veggie — Restaurant in Madrid

The restaurant is absolutely amazing. I've been vegan for about four and a half years, and in all that time I'm struggling to think of anywhere I've eaten that was able to match the quality of the food served by your team. It was great to be served traditional Spanish cuisine that the vegans amongst us could eat too. There was so much variety in all the dishes too! Everybody in the stag-do absolutely loved it, including the meat eaters.

The staff were also very accommodating. I hadn't expected our group (of 15 guys) to get as "merry" as they did. There was singing and push-up competitions and the staff very kindly let the guys have fun and continue as long as it wasn't disturbing the other customers.

I am in Spain for work but had the chance to spend a couple of days in Madrid. It has been a bit challenging to find a lot of vegetarian/vegan variety in Spain, so I whipped out my Happy Cow app and was thrilled to find it having places listed in Madrid. My colleague and I tried Hakuna Matata Veggie tonight and were absolutely blown away. Everything was amazing! In face, we were able to enjoy traditional Tortilla España (no eggs), Mushroom Croquettes, and the most amazing barbecue "chicken" pizza I have ever had. Everything was vegan so I could freely choose anything from the menu. We were too full for postres, but had a lovely tea/infusion to finish an amazing dinner. Service was excelent. My broken Spanish helped things, as did our server's broken English :). Very highly rated on Happy Cow and I know why. Portions were huge, prices were great, taste was outstanding. I cannot...

We were blown away by the food here - absolutely delicious! Some really interesting flavours too which we hadn't experienced before, as well as some more familiar (to us) dishes like the Portobello "scampi" and chips. Lots of variety with some dishes being quite rich with fruit and nuts as well as vegetables, mock meats, pastry etc. I will also say that the mock meats used in various dishes were high quality too. Overall the food tasted authentic, with obviously a lot of care and thought gone into the design and preparation.

Menu was available online, just use your browser to translate to English etc., with pictures too so you know what you're ordering.

Staff very polite, and our server also spoke excellent English which was a nice little bonus for us.

We would absolutely go again if we ever travel to Madrid again, and would recommend this...
