This is my first time in Madrid and I came here with my family. The waiter, Jota, was beyond rude to me. Being the only English speaker in my group I asked a question about the menu and he “shush”ed me. The best part was that he didn’t even know what dressing came on the salad and had to step away to ask many people who also didn’t know. How do you have a restaurant and the staff doesn’t know what is in the food. I work in the service industry and if I ever treated a client the way I was treated tonight I would have been fired. Put a very bad taste in my mouth right away and did not enjoy the entire experience because of it. If you don’t want to serve Americans then you shouldn’t work in a tourist destination city. American tourists : go somewhere else. Also the food was bland and not...

We had one of the best meals I've had in a long time at La Tape, period. That is a statement without any caveats, so coupled with the fact my wife was diagnosed with celiac a few years ago and the entire kitchen is gluten free - it was one of the singular most impressive restaurant experiences we've ever had. Every dish was exceptional in composition and flavor, and the brioche was a gluten free masterwork. To top it off, there was a wide selection of both draft and bottled gluten free beers (my wife has greatly missed getting beer out since her diagnosis) and the service was friendly and helpful. Cannot recommend La Tape strongly enough to everyone, and if you are avoiding gluten it is worth making a pilgrimage...

First of all, the craft beer was great. I recommend it just for the beer. The food was good, too, but I ordered the salmon tartar and it was a really small portion for a main (it was priced like a main). The carrot cake was to die for.

I really liked the atmosphere downstairs, but they made me move upstairs to the "salon." I'm not sure why they made me move. Maybe they thought I'd like it more? I didn't, because it was completely empty upstairs. There's nothing like going to a place alone, and then being sequestered to an empty room to make you reconsider your life choices.

The waiter was nice. He gave me a free beer. He wanted my...

The place is super central and convenient if you have an activity in the centre like theatre or cinema, and one of the waitresses is absolutely lovely. Quick service! Quality of the food was not exceptional, the braised eggplant was quite good but the rest was frankly quite average. The cheese board was quite disappointing, maybe not necessarily in the quantity, but rather in the display (a smaller board could have done!)
