Lateral Fuencarral — Restaurant in Madrid

Horrible lunch I had at this place. I am in Madrid a lot and I had many great dining experiences at this city but unfortunately Lateral in Fuencerral was not one of them.

The service was just appalling. The service was very rushed and horrible and the restaurant was almost empty so there was no excuse! In these times of Covid 19 and hygiene being taken seriously. To my disappointment the server brought an obviously used glass with with somebody’s lip balm prints on the glass rim (I attached the photos). After so many attempts trying to get the server’s attention when he was busy chit chatting with his colleagues and phone (it was the man wearing a grey jacket and trousers). He came and I calmly and quietly asked him to change the glass, he did not say a word he just took the glass and brought another one, no apology given.

Now about the food, I ordered the pumpkin soup it was honestly the worst pumpkin soup I have ever tasted. You would think a pumpkin can never taste bad but this was just inedible and bitter. Again I had to chase for a spoon for the soup.

Really a disappointing experience

After going there for years, every year when we visit Madrid we go zu Lateral in Calle Fuencarral, this time was the most disappointing thing we ever had in Madrid.

The Service was horrible, we had to ask if we can order the drinks even the waitress passed us a few times and the restaurant was not that crowded yet. The waitress also seemed to be ill or something because he was sneezing all the time (in his hands) and he did not clean his hands but touched the cutlery. Also he had his hands the whole time around his nose. Really disgusting.

The Service was also not giving you a look when they handed over the menue or die check. We had to be lucky they did not threw it on the table.

The Service was absolutely uninterested, you felt quite uncomfortable to ask for something more to order.

The food was still good, nothing to declare about that. But for an nice evening there needs to be more than that..

I dont know what happened during last summer up to now but this is no more a restaurant that can be...

Went here with my family on Saturday night. Food was not good cold and vastly over priced. My son and I got the steak and thin fries. That was a mistake. The food was cool, the steak pieces were tough and also cool too, the portion size was very small for the price, over 15euros! (and I don't like large portions). Thinking now, why did the waitress bring a flame torch to heat the steak up at the table? These 2 dishes were definitely sitting in the kitchen for at least 10 minutes before they were brought out to us. Worse meal I've ever been served. I asked the waitress to heat it up as it was cold. I should actually have asked fo 2 fresh meals. It didnt even taste good, very basic, cold and extremely small! It was a complete rip off and to think this was acceptable. Definitely wont be back and wish I had complained at the time and not paid! It wasn't even worth one euro. We left shortly after this. Hope the manager reads this or the company and gets in touch with me for any more information and...
