Parrondo — Restaurant in Madrid

“Not for tourists”

May be it was my fault that wanted to give it a try. I was a tourist in Madrid and this bar was very close to my hotel. The bar owner was not nice to me, and told me he does not have to speak English to me because it is their homeland! I explained that I am a tourist and he asked me if I knew a few words of Spanish.(He knew English very well!) Anyway, after all this conversation he asked me what I wanted and when I looked at the menu on the wall, he impatiently told me that he does not understand what I wanted and showed me the fast food restaurant opposite and said “This is not a tourist place. I think that restaurant is better for you as a tourist!”

Al no dejarme en el restaurante Parrondo que está en frente de esta taberna lo escribí aquí. La sala estaba vacía, teníamos reserva para las 22:00 y justo al llegar salía la última pareja del comedor. El camarero graciosillo, demasiado gracioso, fuera de lugar. El metre serio y sin conocer ni el producto que tienen en carta ni los precios. Pedimos : zamburriñas y pulpo con cachelos de entrantes, como platos principales, solomillo, mero, merluza a la romana, cachopo, huevos con jamón y chuleta de ternera. Las zamburriñas bastante flojas, acorchadas, el pulpo bueno. Platos principales, huevos con jamón buenos, merluza correcta y mero muy muy muy flojo(a pesar que nos lo vendieron como una pieza fuera de carta excepcional) no obstante, nos pareció raro que lo acompañasen con mahonesa. En cuanto a las dos carnes, tuvimos que pedir el cambio por su mal sabor, nos lo sustituyeron por otras dos piezas y el resultado fue el mismo, mal sabor. Al no querer discutir lo dejamos intacto y pedimos la cuenta.

El metre y el camarero ven que dejamos los platos sin tocar, no preguntan, lo recogen y listo. Cuenta y para casa. No volveré, mala cocina, mal servicio y mal ambiente. Ya no...

Great place! Amazing vibe, good prices, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. Everyone there was nice and we really enjoyed the food. We ordered the falafel and the Parrondo burger. Right before ordering we were given a tapa with our drinks, bread with kimchi mayo and an anchovy. It was so good! Can't wait till our next visit. Definitely a must for anyone...
