I always like to start with the positive. This was our first time in Madrid and we absolutely loved it.||The hotel is in a really great location though at first I wasn’t so sure, Salamanca is more my tribe but once I got to know the neighbourhood, it has a fun vibe and is really central to everything.||From the moment we arrived, everyone on the front desk to housekeeping and beyond were absolutely delightful. Everyone is charming, helpful, friendly and smiley and go that extra mile - faultless. So helpful with suggesting / booking / cancelling restaurants and also arranged for a wonderful guide who was just about as good as it gets.||Where I had the problem was with my room and I have been assured by the lovely Lydia ( head of marketing) that she will ensure that I have a much better brighter room for my next visit. Unless cold and permanently dark is your thing, stay away from room 15 BUT it was super spacious and had a wonderful high ceiling. It was dark dark dark and the bathroom was even darker and cold. They very kindly brought me a little chair and table lamp so I could do my make up at the table in the bedroom as the bathroom is way too dark for anything as mundane as shaving or making up. My husband even had to go to the window to cut a nail and didn’t really bother with shaving while he was there. ||However lots of nice little touches, the double shower was cute though if you don’t know your room mate very well, personal/ bathroom sounds are all very audible and the door makes a huge noise should you need to use the bathroom in the night! It doesn’t shut without slamming. This is not a room for new lovers!! ||Lovely Molton Brown products and in proper size bottles too so no wrestling with tiny plastic containers to get a few globs of shower gel out of it and there was a much appreciated little chocolate on your pillow every night. Delightful !||The room has everything you need as does the bathroom but I wasn’t at all happy in this room, I must confess I hated it, hated the lack of proper wardrobe space but did love the big sofa and table. I felt miserable whenever I returned to the hotel as I’m not a young cool millennial, a rather spoilt old Mouse and I have learned anything that has to announce its ‘Coolness’ usually isn’t, the only thing that was cool was the temperature in the bathroom which was always cold and the horrid concrete slabs of the walls were just depressing. Lovely Lydia promises me that she will ensure a lighter brighter room on a higher level for my next trip and that I will be much happier.||I will certainly take her at her word and give the hotel another chance as the people running it are doing a great job and it definitely deserves a second chance. I would not hesitate to recommend it as it is a great location at a very fair and affordable price - more money for shopping and...
Read moreOur recent stay at the Palacio de Atocha in Madrid was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped into the grandeur of its beautifully adorned lobby, I knew we were in for a treat. What truly set Palacio de Atocha apart, however, was its incredible staff. Alvaro and Abel, in particular, at the front desk, were the epitome of hospitality. Their attentiveness, warmth, and readiness to assist with any request made my stay remarkably pleasant. Beginning with a welcome glass of Cava!
The rooms at Palacio de Atocha are a haven of comfort. It's clear that a lot of thought has been put into every little detail, from the plush bedding to the tastefully selected amenities that cater to every conceivable need. The room's design seamlessly blends traditional charm with modern luxury, creating a space that is both beautiful and incredibly comfortable. housekeeping do an amazing job, with lovely little touches like Lindt chocolates on our pillows every night at turn-down. We also very much appreciated a handwritten welcome note with a small plate of fresh fruit - all little touches which made us feel like valued guests.
The hotel's location is another major highlight. Nestled in the heart of Madrid's city centre, it offered easy access to the best of what the city has to offer. Whether we were exploring the rich history, indulging in the local cuisine, or simply enjoying the vibrant street life, everything was just a stone's throw away.
Quality-wise, Palacio de Atocha stands out as a 5-star experience, yet what's truly remarkable is how they manage to offer such high standards at a very good price. It's a testament to their commitment to providing exceptional value without compromising on quality.
In conclusion, our stay at Palacio de Atocha was an unforgettable experience. With its beautiful hotel, very comfortable rooms, and outstanding staff, it's a place I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a luxurious yet affordable stay in Madrid. Palacio de Atocha is not just a hotel; it's a destination that promises and delivers a magical experience. We will...
Read moreFrom the moment we entered the doors of Cool Rooms knew we were in for something special. We were immediately greeted my the most friendly and helpful reception and concierge staff you could imagine. They were clearly intent on making our stay special. We arrived far too early for our room to be ready, but Marcos gave us extensive tips for spending the next few hours. Once the room was ready, I received a text to let me know and our bags were waiting in the room - and what a room it was. Normally city centre hotels have rooms just a bit bigger than the bed, but this one was immense and beautifully appointed. The noise from the busy street below was barely audible at any time; the bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was bigger that some bedrooms I've stayed in. The decor throughout the hotel emphasised an aura of calm and was so sympathetic to the grand building. As part of our welcome, we were given some of the most delicious truffles we have ever tasted. On asking about them the concierge arranged for two boxes to be prepared especially for us to take home on departure. They really are home made by the chef at the hotel, I believe, and a special thanks must go to them for making them for us. They were worth very cent!! Breakfast by the poolside was delicious and beautifully served. Special mention must go to the concierges, Marcos, Abel and Cristobel also of whom could not have been more helpful and friendly with perfect recommendations to help us make the most of our short time in Madrid. A lovely surprise was the birthday cake we found in our room on the day of my wife's birthday, which was a wonderful touch. If you are looking for a home-away-from-home, Cool Rooms is the place to go. Every element of our stay was outstanding. If one must find something to mention on the (very slight) down side, the room we were in would have benefitted from a more accessible full-length mirror, but otherwise we have nothing but praise for the super-friendly staff and every element of the service and the...
