Pasta Balboa — Restaurant in Madrid

Pasta Balboa was a welcome find during our stay in Madrid. We found the restaurant one block from our apartment, a friendly neighborhood near Balboa in Trafalgar. All the pasta is house made and gluten free, and from our experience all delicious! At Thomaso’s (the owner and chef) suggestion, I had trumpet pasta with pumpkin pesto. The flavors were alive and melded beautifully with the dense pasta. He was more than willing to engage in conversation about Italy, Paris and Madrid, all places he’s lived. Though small, the nuevo atmosphere reflects this new approach to pasta. I recommend a trip away from the tourist area, perhaps a simple ride on the metro, exiting at Balboa for a short walk which will delight your tastebuds and leave you more than satisfied....

La carta 📜 es bastante intuitiva🤓: 1️⃣ Eliges la pasta🍝 entre 7 diferentes (trompeta, spaghetti, tornado....). 2️⃣ Eliges la salsa entre 12 tipos diferentes clasificados en 3 grupos: pesto🌿, base de tomate🍅 o base de nata/queso 🧀

También tienen entrantes y postres🍰

De lo que pedimos (burratina al tartufo, trompetas con pesto Rosso y Rigatoni 6 quesos) NECESITO destacar los tomates secos 🍅que acompañan a la burratina que me parecen un imprescindible🤤, nos fascinaron 😍

🍹Lo que me gustó mucho fueron las bebidas. Todas en lata. Hay refrescos y cervezas🍺 diferentes, no comerciales, ya que toda la carta es sin gluten🌾. El refresco de mango 🥭 me gustó 😃. También tienen 2 cervezas IPA, una madrileña y otra vasca 👏

🍴Cubiertos son de plástico. Algunos entrantes, como la burratina, viene en bowl de cartón📦. La pasta también en recipiente de cartón 🥲

🤵 El personal es simpático y te explica todo con paciencia😃. La verdad que no empezamos con buen pie, teníamos una reserva a las 14.00h y tuvimos que esperar a que se fueran los clientes anteriores. Después, el trato fue tan bueno que se nos olvidó. También decir que la espera fueron 10 minutos 😂, nada grave 💁🏻‍♀️

🏠 El local es pequeño. Solo tiene 4 mesas en las que caben en total 12 personas. Y una barra con 3 taburetes. Todas las mesas son altas con taburetes. La decoración está guay 👍

🫒 Con las bebidas nos trajeron como un paté de aceitunas que nos gustó muchísimo 🤩

🌾 Toda la carta es sin gluten

🚯 Colaboran con "Too Good To Go" lo que significa que si al final del día ha sobrado algo, lo venden a través de esta app al 70% para evitar el desperdicio de alimentos 👏

🛒 En el propio local venden algunos productos como refrescos y panettones.

💰Precio💰20€/persona. En nuestro caso fuimos con el descuento del Tenedor y salimos...

We went today ‘cause the place we actually wanted to visit was full, ¡and we absolutely loved it!

Pasta was incredibly good. We had both the same pasta, rigatoni; it was fresh, perfect cooking point, tasty. Sauces we had Portobello Trufado and 6 quesos; both great, winner the 6 quesos! For dessert, the pistaccio Tiramisu was great, but the Choco/Platano tarta was also delicious.

The place is small but cozy and really nicely ambiented. The people working there is fast, friendly, attentive…
