DO NOT GO HERE! IT WILL SOUR YOUR ENTIRE DAY!!! You’re better off eating at a stand or a supermarket sandwich.
Going here was one of the worst experiences of my life. My boyfriend and I were walking back from the retiro and were really hungry, and not much else was close by. We went in and ordered two plates of pasta. Mine had a tomato and meat sauce, and it was super watery and clearly microwaved. Not much flavor but I went ahead and started eating. My boyfriend got a carbanara and it tasted so bad that we put it aside and just shared my food. When the waiter came by I requested that he not charge us for the other dish since we did not eat it and didn’t like it. He argued with me saying he had to try it himself first and he wasn’t going to be taken advantage of. He took it to the bar and gave it a try and came back saying that he thought it was fine so we had to pay for it. At this point I was so frustrated I just wanted to get out of the restaurant so I was getting the money to pay him. He continued to argue with me and try to convince me that the food was good even though I repeatedly told him I was uninterested in talking further. He was extremely patronizing and rude. (I was speaking to him in perfect Spanish this whole time as I am fluent so it wasn’t an issue with language). We ended up spending 50 euros on the worst meal . It is also possibly the most expensive meal we had during our week long stay here in Madrid. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH BAD THINGS ABOUT...
Read moreOne of the single worst dining experiences I have ever had. Not in Spain, not abroad, but in my entire life. My girlfriend and I came in starving and generally didn’t have high expectations. We were still apalled at the state of the restaurant. The place was revolting and it was covered in flies. Against our better judgement, we still ordered—first of all, the restaurant flat-out lies about their prices. Items on the menu were a whole three euros more expensive when they appeared on the bill. We didn’t discover this until after we were utterly disgusted by the food, and when we politely mentioned this to the waiter he outright accused us of trying to cheat him for a free meal. We did not even eat the meal in question—what was advertised as “carbonara” was more like slop that you couldn’t even feed to prisoners. The waiter stood at our table for a solid three minutes arguing with us about our experience, and would not leave us alone until I finally had to to say that we had paid and therefore our conversation was concluded. In short—if you choose to dine here, you can expect: 1) A filthy, unkempt restaurant lousy with vermin. 2) Completely inedible food. 3) Outright insulting service with waiters who will insult customers and accuse them of subterfuge. And 4) A bill that in no way matches the prices on the menu. I would not wish the food at this reataurant on my worst enemy, and the...
Read moreWe visited the place for a breakfast before going to the museum and ordered two Seagal sandwiches, a Pincho de Tortilla with ham and cheese, and two Cafe con porros.
First thing is that the picture of the sandwiches on the menu is not even close to what you get... just look at the pictures I attached and make your own conclusion. Also, the sandwiches came cold.
Secondly, instead of a Tortilla with ham and cheese the waiter brought us a Tortilla with potatoes. We asked him to replace and after 15 minutes it still wasn't on our table. When asked the waiter, it came up he forgot to place the order with the kitchen.
The waiter was very absent, ignoring our calls, but to be honest he was alone serving a lot of people. Also, rubish on the floor.
Overall, a very bad experience, would not recommend.
We ended up in this cafe because there are no others in the area, thus if you're going to the museum and planning to have a breakfast in the area before going to the museum, better find...
