This is a cozy and charming restaurant. It’s a shame I have to write this negative review. I do hope the owners of the restaurant see this review. They have some terrible employees bringing this lovely restaurant down.
We checked in with the barman for our 6:15pm reservation on Jan 22. He rudely said we did not have a reservation since he did not see our name written down in their reservation log. We had email confirmation of our reservation. He said it didn’t matter that he would be able to seat us. He took us to the dining area and pointed to two tables that were available. We asked if we could sit in one of the booth tables instead. He said they were being held for people with reservations. We told him we have a reservation. He rudely pointed to the same two tables and said that is all that is available and rudely walked away. We were left to seat ourselves. Nobody was ever seated in any of the booths throughout the night. They were empty all throughout our dinner. There is no reason they could not have sat us there.
Between the rude barman and the terrible waitress, it really made for a terrible dining experience. The waitress only had four tables, three of which only had two people per table. It was a very slow night. She was missing most of the night. Our water and wine glasses were never refilled. We had to serve our own water and wine. Not to mention they ran out of Tomahawk steak. We were there for the Tomahawk steak. We should have left then.
We managed to flag down another waitress whom informed us our waitress was on her lunch break. She said she would help us. We asked for a dessert menu. We ordered dessert. Dessert was served. We finished dessert and again we had no waitress. We had to flag down the same waitress again. We asked where our waitress was. She informed us she had gone home for the night. We were left without a waitress, really? This is hands down the worst dining experience we have ever had. This restaurant is very poorly managed.
My husband and I are both foodies and we travel extensively. This is the absolute worst restaurant we have ever gone to. It’s really unfortunate because it’s a very cute and cozy restaurant. The braised octopus was simply delicious. The Rib steak was cooked to perfection. The grilled asparagus was tasty. The cheesecake was amazingly light.
To add insult to injury when we received our 169,05 bill there was a 5.50 charge that we did not recognize. My husband asked about the charge and the waitress said it was for the bread. We told her we did not have bread. She then said it was for the change of plates. We had octopus as an appetizer and then ordered steak for our entrees. Why we were not given appetizer plates is beyond me. The fact that they had the nerve to apply a charge to bring us a clean plate for our entrees is just plain incompetence.
The service was beyond despicable. If the barman and waitress were my employees they would be fired. I managed to take a photo of the two of them in hopes the owner will see this review. Please find some better employees that actually care about their job and providing a good customer experience. These two employees are simply horrific. They ruined our dinner. Seems they hate their job. Because of them we will never return.
The barman is the worst of the two. He needs an attitude adjustment. His non-caring, arrogant, narcissistic attitude shines through loud and clear. He is a very poor representation of this establishment. When he saw me take the picture he came right over to see if he could be of assistance. I am sure he figured out I was going to report him. There was nothing he could do at that point. The damage had been done. On our way out a man that showed up in a suit appeared to work there. I thought he might be the manager. I told him they need to do better as we walked out the door. What a nightmare of a night. Just plain awful!...
Read moreThis is one of the best places in Madrid to enjoy authentic Asturian cuisine in a refined and elegant setting. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels welcoming yet sophisticated, with traditional touches that highlight its northern Spanish roots.
The menu is full of Asturian specialties, and everything we tried was outstanding. The fabada asturiana was rich, hearty, and full of flavor, easily one of the best I’ve had outside of Asturias. The seafood was incredibly fresh — we tried the merluza and the pulpo, both beautifully prepared and presented. The portions are generous but balanced, and you can tell the ingredients are top quality.
Service was excellent throughout our meal. The staff is attentive, professional, and very knowledgeable about the menu, happy to suggest the best wine pairings and guide us through the traditional dishes. It felt like more than just dinner — it was a genuine cultural experience.
The restaurant itself is elegant and spacious, making it perfect for a special dinner, family gathering, or even a business meal. It combines the comfort of Asturian home cooking with the sophistication of fine dining in Madrid. Absolutely...
Read moreExcellent steak, although. I would recommend ordering medium well if you want anything close to medium. I ordered medium and it was rare. But amazing. I loved it. This fillet came with a duck faux fras gravy that was lovely .The Russian salad with tuna is basically potato salad with tuna, but again the very best potato salad Ive ever had(sorry hon) the desert was a rice pudding. When it was delivered it looked just like a creme brulee, the top has been glazed, but underneath is a lovely light cool rice pudding. Easily the best Ive ever had. If I was able to live here I would come back and try their tomahawk steak and other beef enterees as they look and smell amazing. This place has the feel of an old steak house. I loved it. However be careful is you have sensitivities. They allow smoking inside, service is basically in demand which seems to be typical in Madrid. Wait staff here leave you alone until you ask for something, they don't hover like Americans do. I like it, but it does take...
