OK, so I’m a big fan of Mexican food. Love the stuff. Can’t get enough of it. Mexican restaurants are usually easy to find, but they aren’t always good, and usually when they’re good, they’re not cheap. Luckily for me, Tierra offers a specialized menu with Burritos, Tacos, Nachos and not much else for really affordable prices. I’ve visited them at least 4 times and I’ve always been satisfied with the quality, presentation and taste of their plates. I’ve tried the burritos with all the meat choices they offer, the tacos, nachos and platter and they’re all fantastic. I should also add that I’ve never left the place feeling hungry. On a Special note, they have a pretty decent Hot Sauce. It’s not the spiciest thing out there, but it has great taste and they’re quite generous with it if you just ask them to “go nuts” with it. Let’s just say my tongue felt like it was on fire after eating a large Cochinilla plate the last time I was there. Another thing I adore about this place: Their wide selection of craft beer. They have a fridge full with an amazing range of local and imported beers. It’s as close as I’ve gotten to going to a specialty shop while still getting some food in me (plus they’re coooold). So, In my opinion, great place for...
Read moreSince the onset of Chipotle, which, believe it or not, is almost 30 years old, there have been several comparable spinoffs in the United States such as the late-90s national chain, Qdoba, and Tijuana Flats of Florida. When it comes to gastronomical culture, the Spanish are spoiled, and thusly, the measure can be quite high. Multiple northern Europeans who live in Madrid claim the Spanish simply won't eat bad food, period. With that being said, Tierra is quite simply everything that Chipotle wanted to be.
My understanding is that it was founded by a set of entrepreneurs from the US and it by far the BEST fast-casual burrito spot of its kind, ANYWHERE, and there can really be no debate in my mind about it. It's very popular with Spanish teens, always busy; and while there are other attempts at doing this, especially in the malls around Madrid, they don't even come close, really. The proportions and ingredient quality are superior, and this restaurant in Madrid comes highly...
Read moreIt's a spacious place with a slightly rustic vibe and huge windows that let in a lot of light. As for COVID prevention measures, a few tables had red stickers on them, likely suggesting that you couldn't sit there. I didn't see any sanitiser but there are toilets to wash your hands, and tissues under your burrito. During this time, you should carry your own sanitiser anyway.
It was simple to order with my limited Spanish, but the staff member who made my burrito kindly translated some fillings in English for me. My burrito was massive, affordable (less than €7) and very delicious! I didn't use the toilet or order a drink. However, based on the friendly service and the taste of my burrito alone, I would highly recommend coming...
