Sana Locura Gluten Free Bakery — Restaurant in Madrid

I read about this gluten-free bakery on a bunch of blogs — most rating it the number one GF bakery in Madrid. Located in a neighborhood ~2 miles north of our hotel near the Prado, so we did make a special trip just to try the creations. (Note we had a rental car on this day so navigating was quite easy, parking not so much. We read that it is quite accessible by public transit as well.) the selection was large — anything pastry, bread loaf, or bread-based product you might want to try a GF version of, they seemed to offer. They had a lot of mini options, too! Recommend the Palmier cookies — especially the chocolate covered. The sliced bread was fresh and delicious, too. Napolitana pastry (crème filled) was nice, but a bit on the smaller size. All in all this is a great bakery to try for...

I would like to share my experience yesterday at Sana Locura. I visited with my family after reading a recommendation on a Spanish blog. We were excited by the pictures of the croissants and expected high quality, but the reality fell far short of our expectations.

The food was really average besides of the strawberry banana smoothie that was really good, our desserts were drier than a desert and looked old. I informed the owner about the situation, but she dismissed my concerns, stating that it was my problem and that I got what I ordered. She also refused to issue a refund.

When it was time to pay, they did not reveal the bill initially, and upon requesting to see the receipt, I noticed they had added an extra item without explanation.

Overall, I cannot recommend...

Came today at 13:30 I ordered some food for take away and a coffee, the lady told me on the begging ok for coffee then the other one showed her with gesture “no no “. So she replied to me no coffee, I was stubborn and requested again. The one which was making a coffee did a proper eye roll with hate looking towards me. I think you need exchange the staff ! I guess she cleaned already the coffee machine that’s why she didn’t want to make it ! Really rude ! I was visiting this place whenever in Madrid but now do not recommend !
