Taberna Real Restaurante — Restaurant in Madrid

Great food and drink, central, but what put me off was the fact that was so expensive and very vain waiters if you compare to the rest of the surrounding area. If you want true tipical food, wine, charisma this is the place to avoid. Two stars are really just because the food and drink are good, everything else, specially the waiters "dedication" was very poor.

Edit: I am still fighting with the fact that a waiter told me to go to McDonald's if I was looking for something cheap... I am sorry but this is not what I expect when I am spending my well worth money in a restaurant. Definitely not going there again, but for those looking for the initial Madrid experience...

I visited the place at around 5pm for a snag. The interior looks somehow historic, with a bit of charme for the counter. However the overall impression is oweful, the tables look and feel greacy, the high noise level is almost unbearable. There was NO hot food until 7pm, so I ordered Iberian Ham and Sadines, which tasted average, nothing special. I paid for the Iberian Ham & sardines (6 slices of hard roasted bread) & one glas red wine 22 EUR. This place is ranked / recommended as one of the best tapas bars in Mardid. My worst service experience ever!

We were a group of 3 friends and we sat outside, we asked for menu but the waiter said that there is no menu. We were thirsty and we order beers and coke and olives. I was hungry as well and I asked what the table next to us had, appetizers ( salami + some cheese plateau). How much can appetizers be, right?

Big surprise at the end. I had to pay almost 50 euros for salami + cheese! I asked for justice and guess what, now the waiter brought the menu and showed me the prices...
