As an ex-Boston resident for the past 26 years, cannoli from the north end had become one of my favorite perks from living in beantown. After moving to Madrid last year, these satisfying cream filled pastries had been missed very much. There are not many places to grab a cannolo in Madrid, but this is one of the few and so I ventured on foot to try to satisfy this craving. Each regular size cannolo costs 3.50 euros which is a little expensive for the size. The crunchy exterior shell was incredibly fresh and had a wonderful crumbly texture and wasn’t like many others that are so hard you could break a tooth on them. The cream filling left me a little disappointed as I like a lot of ricotta flavor and not too much sweetness. These on the other hand seemed to be the yellow pastry filling style that don’t taste like ricotta and I found it far too sweet. The gentleman working the shop was very friendly. I would return occasionally as the cannoli were somewhat satisfying, but if they add an option for a cream that tastes like ricotta, I would be here much more often.
