Disgusting attitude, slow service Took us ages to order drinks because they were just not coming to us. Saw no card payments accepted on the menu, so asked and two members of staff said yes card is accepted. Moved tables to the front and still took forever. Taff were not very friendly, just slamming our drinks and food down then running off. This is how they've been trained I expect to just get as many customers sitting as possible. Didn't take us long to be seated. Finally ordered drinks and they gave me a warm bottle of water. Ordered gluten free dairy free food, just rice and vegetables. Out came my rice with a soya sauce that contains gluten. Asked the waiter to double check as I could tell straight away. He didn't understand and went to consult with others. Came and took my plate then had to wait longer. Chips were obviously fried and very greasy, as was my rice when it finally came. No sauces given, I had to ask and they charged for it. Bill took ages to come and when it finally did they said they cannot accept more than one card payment for a group. Asked to speak with the manager as we didn't have cash. He was not interested. So basically due to the restaurant avoiding card payments to save a small fee of money, we had to pay €10 to get out cash from the cashpoint. He didn't seem to care that we did not have cash and they knew this from the beginning when we asked. They just wanted to make us pay somehow, wasn't their problem. Long as they get their money! Selfish people really to do this to their customers. Will not return and definitely will not recommend. Tried to explain to the manager about the service but he said 'there was not gluten in the rice,' so why would they say that's soya sauce and take it away? Amature...
Read moreWhen I travel I love to try local cuisine. I am a big foodie and not very fussy eater. Before travelling to Puerto Rico I went on TripAdvisor and was trying to find a restaurant with local food. I was disappointed as it was either Indian, Italian, Mexican or sushi.
A friend of mine who lived in Gran Canaria told me to try local dish called Papas Con Mojo Roco. At my hotel when I arrived I asked at the reception where can I try this dish and other authentic Canarian food. That's when I heard about Balcon Canario.
I went there for lunch and ordered their sizzling garlic prawns and bread on side. That was so delicious! If you love garlic it's a must! It could be both starter or main. Depends how much you like to eat. My second dish there was squid which comes with chips and salad. Again delicious. When you're on holidays like this you just have to try their local seafood. When I was paying my bill I asked about the dish my friend recommended and I had to return another day,
So I did return and I have ordered those Canarian potatoes like a side with my main. You should as well ask for them instead having chips. Small boiled potatoes with red pepper sauce and what a garlic kick! Since then I had those potatoes every day. That's how much I loved them! I also had muscles with bread and calamari.
This is an exceptional place to eat and drink. Local couisine. Very good service and very reasonable pricing! Example - starter, main, bread and three glasses of wine under £30. I ate all by myself but it could easily feed two people!!! I was actually surprised by the prices there as compare to mainland there's no way it would cost you the same price!

Read moreSo disappointed. I had high hopes afte4 several local recommendations for this restaurant. I was hopeful for the paella and got some beautiful pictures. However it turned out to be inedible, very OVER salted dish! My waiter tried to play this off when the chef got angry when I invited them to taste the rice themselves.
Mistakes do happen. I even suggested they add white rice to the dish to bring down the salt content. Despite, doing this a few times, the paella was still inedible. I wish I'd been more firm in refusing the meal, despite paying ahead.
Whilst the waiter secretly apologised after he tasted it, all it would have taken was the chef / manager to also taste the meal too. The downplaying of the issue, chef refusing to taste it themselves, glaring at me instead. Waiters coming together to stare at me, a solo female customer who doesnt speak Spanish was terrible! How it was dealt with was terrible. As a paella lover this experience was such a huge...
