Puerta del Mar — Restaurant in Nerja

I was really disappointed with our visit to the restaurant after it had been recommended by a family member.

The first impression was how badly lit it is. It has cold, harsh lighting, not very welcoming.

The waiters are very polite and attentive however this doesnt count when they cant get the order of the dishes right. I had ordered gambas pil pil as my starter and my friend, the prawn cocktail. Her prawn cocktail arrived and after 10mins, mine hadn`t. I pointed this out to the waiter who went to check, meantime, the clams I had ordered for my main course had arrived ! After another 10mins, the gambas arrived and finally we could eat our starters. The cold clams were left on the table until I asked for them to be removed.

A fresh plate of clams then arrived with my friends scallop. When I initially went to order food, the waiter discouraged me from ordering the red prawns too as it would be too much. It certainly wasnt enough as the dishes dont come served with anything else.

He did caveat we could order more food if required, however after the debacle of the previous dishes, we decided to leave.

It is such a shame the service didn`t match the food which, after all, was delicious. I particularly liked the touch of a small seafood salad as a complimentary...

Unfortunately, our experience at Marisquería Puerta del Mar was disappointing. We were the first patrons to arrive for lunch, and rather than being welcomed, we felt like an inconvenience—the staff barely acknowledged us and continued with their tasks, making the atmosphere quite awkward.

We ordered a salad and fried seafood. The complimentary tapas mixed seafood salad was actually quite good, but the mixed salad we ordered was underwhelming—poorly presented in a bowl far too large for the portion, and a lack of attention to detail was obvious (the tomato end wasn't even cut out, as you can see in my photo).

To add to that, they automatically charged for bread without asking if we wanted it. The fried seafood was decent until I found a piece with a hair in it. When we brought this to the waiter’s attention, his response was simply, “sorry.” No attempt to make it right until my husband spoke with the manager, who claimed he had no idea what happened.

Customer service was seriously lacking, and the overall experience felt more like a tourist trap than a genuine dining experience. The only redeeming factor was the nice view. I wouldn’t recommend this place based...

I was there TODAY, Well, I asked one of the ladies about getting a table, and she just cut me like that…. Me: Hi, do you have a tab…….. interrumpe me. She: First put your mask (just my nose was out becase i ask her a question) Tell your daughter (shes is 4yo) to no seat because im cleaning and if you want a table ask the mesero 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ I just want a table to eat with my daughter and wife, thats it !!! I didn’t say anything….. Waiting for the waitress…… Then i said “ can i seat at table with my daughter till my wife come”? He’s said : Are you gonna eat??? Whar question is that🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ No i’ m here to watching you work 🤦🏻‍♂️ Instead I said yes Sr, eat and drink. After another 5-8 min nobody said anything to me…. Few tables empty….
