Was walking towards the Cathedral around 1:30pm when I found this cozy, local joint. The owner was helpful to cater for my challenging diet for Spain-standard (vegetarian, no allium). There are only 2 items he can make for me - hummus or stir fry quinoa. I choose the quinoa.
English is not spoken here, but owner is friendly and combined with Google translate - all is well!
The fried quinoa was served with a side of wholemeal bread (complimentary). The quinoa was delicious - it was fried with mushrooms, bell peppers, zucchini, carrots. I could have used more quantity as I was so hungry :) but the bread helps to top it up. Total damage was 10.70 euro for the quinoa and a glass of peach juice (fyi, they fill it to half cup only).

I was despairing of getting a meal that included vegetables in Northern Spain. It astonishes me, that in a country with such fabulous produce, this seems absent in any meaningful quantities from most restaraunt menus.
Not so at Raices, they serve wonderful, fresh food in sensible quantities.
