Compostelana Plaza del Charco — Restaurant in Puerto de la Cruz

We found this restaurant on the first night of our holiday and were delighted with the food and service. So much so we went back for lunch and dinner. Our orders were mixed up a couple of times which we did not fuss about however on our second dinner here my boyfriend ordered in English and there was some confusion between him and the server about what he ordered. When another team member delivered our meal we informed him that this wasn't what we ordered and he took it away. I was very taken aback when the server who took the order confronted , my already embarrassed boyfriend and challenged him about what he ordered. As a Spanish speaker I continued to be horrified at her behaviour when she not only spoke about us to other staff very loudly but then discussed us with a local couple at the table beside us. The most uncomfortable experience I have ever had in a restaurant and we could not get our bill fast enough and did not return. Absolutely delicious! I was surprised because I wasn't expecting it to be so tasty! We sat at a table outside, the place was packed! The service was excellent, very attentive. They are very efficient. The food was served in a decent amount of time, especially considering how busy they were.

My husband ordered salmon with risotto. It had a hint of coconut flavor and was so savory! I had spaghetti carbonara, it had been a while since I'd eaten it and it hit the spot! My daughter's shared a pizza and were very pleased with it. It was good price-wise as well. The four of us got out of there for just over €40 which isn't bad for dinner and drinks.

We went twice to this one and once to the one on the seafront and we have mixed feelings about this. First we had a great cocktail and a focaccia and the drink was great with a great presentation and the focaccia was basically pizza bread - not the normal things but it was good and big portion. Then in the seafront we ordered focaccia and we got a piece of toast bread and they didn't have the same cocktail there - disappointing. So we went to this one at the square again to get the drink we liked and we got something completely different. We pointed that out and they offered to change it but admitted that different bartenders do different things and they are not able to replicate the same one.
