Restaurante Pizzería El Lago — Restaurant in Puerto de la Cruz

Absolutely AWFUL service. Immediately staff were rude and made snarky comments before even being seated!

We asked for a table for 3 people and a bald man pointed to a table that people had just left from. We sat at the table and a bald gentleman came over 5 minutes later raising his voice at us that he hadn’t cleaned the table and that we shouldn’t have seated, we immediately apologised of course and explained we had been walking all day and wanted to sit down (but still apologised despite him pointing at the table and taking another 5minutes). He continued to make comments, some in English and some in another language (I don’t believe it was Spanish). He aggressively cleaned the table whilst slamming drink and food mats and banging glasses together. He then stormed off and another worker came over to tell us we had made his colleague really angry and that he has to calm him down, he also told us that ‘he is out of control and it is because of you’, this waiter also made patronising comments saying ‘you must learn to not do these things’ as well as saying ‘seeing as you have been walking sooo much you must know what drinks you want’ - this was his way of asking us what beverages we would like.

We ordered another bottle of water, this never came and also wasn’t on our bill (which was a relief

Overall we were served by 4 waiters, both ladies waitresses...

We visited this restaurant four times during our stay, and the first three visits were flawless. However, during our last visit, out of five people, only one received their order without any issues.

One person did not receive their meal—this can happen due to a communication error. One pizza arrived burnt. We asked for a replacement, which the waitress confirmed, but after 30 minutes, when it still hadn’t arrived, we followed up only to find out that no one other than the waitress knew about the request. Part of the meat was unfortunately undercooked. However, after waiting so long for the pizza, we chose to cut off the uncooked part rather than report the issue. The waiter accidentally spilled some fries on the floor while serving the dish. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal (we’re all human), but it added to the series of unfortunate events.

Wow. Just… wow. If you’re looking for rude, dismissive service with a side of bland, flavorless slop, congratulations—you’ve found the perfect place. The staff acted like serving customers was some kind of personal insult, and any attempt at basic courtesy was clearly beneath them.

The food? Imagine the most boring, uninspired, microwave-at-3AM-because-you-have-no-options kind of meal… then somehow make it worse. I’ve had more excitement chewing plain rice cakes. And don’t even get me started on the presentation—if you enjoy your meals looking like they were thrown together in the dark, you’re in for a treat.

When I (politely!) mentioned the food was subpar, the server gave me a look that screamed “How dare you speak?” and just walked off. Absolutely laughable.

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. Do yourself a favor—eat literally anywhere else. A gas station sandwich would be a five-star experience compared to...
