Maximilians — Restaurant in San Bartolomé de Tirajana

We were here on 2 separate occasions. Both times we listened to music and had a few drinks. The music was fantastic on both nights. First night a Costa Rica singer who was fabulous. Second night a Cuban lady and a Percussionist from Gran Canaria who were outstanding. In both cases, I would have paid to see them sing at a club in New York or Boston. I’m writing this review to highlight how great I thought the service was. There is a waiter, Ericsson, who I think could easily be a maitre at a high end restaurant. He has a great friendly style about him and he works wonderfully with a young lady who seems to be his wingman. They are a great efficient pair who cover about 20 tables with limited back room support. I had a lovely time. The pours were amazing by Anglo standards and they were just such nice, friendly, attentive and welcoming people, I felt at home and they had great recommendations of places to explore around the island. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy live music is a relaxing and welcoming environment. Will definitely come back whenever I visit...

Horrendous service, ordered 2 main courses, bottle of water and bottle of wine, then we were completely ignored, water eventually arrived, had to ask again for the wine and be told that what we ordered wasn't available, staff were brusque and clearly didn't even speak to each other, main courses arrived and still no wine, had to ask for parmesan from another waiter and it felt like we were just in the way, wine arrived halfway through eating our meal so we cancelled it, I just wanted to leave as I felt so unwelcome. The apparent manager came over to see why we cancelled our wine and we said that we were almost finished eating. Got the impression that his only priority was to sell the wine and didn't seem to care that we were upset,. Food was ok, standard pasta and sauce, nothing special but some of the most disorganised and rude service I have ever come across. They clearly just focus on passing tourist trade rather than good service which would bring repeat customers. I’ve always liked this restaurant – usually it has a great ambience and good food. Unfortunately, my last two visits have been very disappointing. Instead of the relaxing atmosphere it used to have, it now feels more like a babysitting service for very young kids – full of iPads blaring games, TikTok on speakers, and no ambience at all.

Service was poor: asking to move tables seemed to inconvenience the waiter, staff didn’t know their wines. Water was poured as if rationed, the tablecloth was crushed, they forgot the sauce for the prawns, and the risotto, which used to be lovely, was watery. They made a big fuss when we ordered the risotto, shouting to each other and making comments to us. If certain dishes aren’t meant to be ordered, don’t put them on the menu.

It’s not a terrible place, but if you want a perfect dining experience, or of its a special occasion, look elsewhere. I really hope they can revert to what they once were, because this used...
