Unfortunately a disappointing visit and cannot recommend. While the service was attentive on arrival it deteriorated very quickly after. A condescending waiter ( later found out maitre de ) insisted true Italian Restaurants don’t serve Garlic Bread the Spanish might. Despite ( following research ) Italians have eaten and served same since the 18th Century! Anyways after a 50 minutes time from ordering in a small but intimate restaurant the food arrived. To be fair the ingredients were good quality. The rack of lamb, Beef fillet and rest was nicely cooked and presented but at best was lukewarm ! Probably left standing somewhere for sometime and thus disrespecting both chef and customer. We did raise this with waiter who came for plates and he asked the maitre de to visit. Same person as the garlic bread lecturer ! He was adamant it was our fault for not calling him when served! This despite after plates left with us, waiter made no contact or any sort of check after serving . Both him and the maitre de were not available to call. AND to be brutally honest we were hungry so just ate it. At no point did I ask for a refund or discount , just giving honest feedback. Paid around £100 for 2 mains and wine. Was hoping for an apology or at least assurance for the benefit of future visit etc this would be looked at. However, maitre de just “stormed of in a huff” exclaiming I can’t accept that .
Would never visit again or recommend an establishment where maitre de thinks it’s about him and not the restaurant...

La Cucina Italiana in Maspalomas is a fantastic discovery for anyone who loves authentic Italian cuisine. I had the pleasure of dining there and was truly impressed by the quality, flavor, and hospitality.
I tried the Spaghetti Carbonara and the Tuna in a sesame crust, both of which were absolutely delicious. Every bite was perfectly balanced – rich, fresh, and full of flavor. To finish, I enjoyed their profiterole with warm chocolate, which was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and the portion sizes were just right – generous without being overwhelming.
The service is excellent, and both the owner and chef are genuine, warm Italians who clearly take pride in what they do. It’s rare to find such an authentic Italian dining experience, especially in a place like Gran Canaria. Their friendliness and passion really elevate the whole experience.
Prices are very reasonable, making this place not just a culinary highlight, but also a great value.
I wholeheartedly recommend La Cucina Italiana without any hesitation. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, make sure to stop by – you won’t regret it. And if you speak a little Italian, don’t hesitate to chat with the owner – he’s always happy to share...
Read moreSome of the worst service I’ve ever experienced. I went for dinner with a friend. I explained to the waiter I wanted to have the Carbonara as a main. I had been feeling unwell so I just ordered focaccia bread for the table for when the starter came out. My main then came down before my friend even got his starter. Rather than just acknowledge the error, the owner, in a condescending voice told me that they didn’t consider ‘bread’ to be a starter (it’s literally on a list called starters on the menu). Couldn’t believe how rude he was! As a result I finished my food 15 mins before my friends main came out. The food itself was just ok. The carbonara came out cold and was fairly bland apart from the bacon which was nice. My friend had the sea bass which again was ok but the portion...
