Alecrim Restaurante Casa Marco — Restaurant in San Miguel de Abona

After reading all the reviews we were expecting great things ..and unfortunately we're left deflated. The lady owner was lovely .but the other 2 waiting tables werent the friendliest ...one of them mocking me because I wanted a salad without the king prawns. And then ... Bringing out said salad with my starter ....saying he'd brought it out so it didn't get mixed up in the kitchen... But he was obviously making a point ... The salad sat on the table a good half an hour during starters and waiting for my partner's main course. My partner had fish ..which was very nice .. credit where it is due. Dessert was ok... Chocolate brownie ..a little dry and overpriced, cheese board very dissapointing ... All the cheese looked the same and no fruit except from a raspberry cut into 4 and a walnut . For €13 we expected something a little better . We did say we were dissapointed with the cheese board and graciously the lady owner didn't charge us ..which was very good of her. Staying nearby, we had just finished lunch at a neighbouring restaurant when my husband saw the octopus on the menu of Alecrim. We booked for the next evening and what a treat! The service was impeccable as the staff is so obviously happy to have you there. The specials menu was so inviting, that my husband decided not to order the octopus in order to try the fresh rock bass with sweet potato and prawn curry sauce. I had another special - the amberjack with a Romanesco type sauce, Canarian potatoes and a lovely salad with shredded beats and carrots. It was so delicious, and the venue was so lovely (we sat watching the ocean waves and passers-by on the promenade) that we actually had dessert (something we rarely do) to prolong the experience. We booked again for our last night here - so we can savour our last evening - and finally try...

We came over encouraged by various positive reviews and boy, we have got a wonderful experience and then some..We had small starters of bruschetta with smoked cod and daily special being some clams of the type i have never seen in my life before. All delicious and smartly presented. But the main courses topped that easily - we had pink bream with some delicious crust and the octopus that is state of the art dish, worth every praise IT can get. Have eaten octopus in various places in Greece, Italy, Croatia but that in Alecrim Restaurant is performing in whole different league.
