The food was quite good, though limited. Too many vegan restaurants focus on burgers, and I would like to see more creative cooking done with vegetables. I have had the pleasure of experiencing such cooking, which is why I can’t rave about the food with 5 stars. They were very accommodating, though. I don’t eat bread, and they served me one of the burgers not on the bun, and added some avocado to the side instead. I had the mushroom tofu burger and it was tasty. My spouse had the beet burger and enjoyed. We had hot drinks that were fine. We shared a “cheesecake” dessert, which was tasty (though the coconut - I could taste that they used coconut - “cheese” layer was too sweet), with a nice passionfruit layer on top. The service was slow (probably food prep time), but pleasant. The atmosphere was bright and clean. I’m adding an update, because we ate there a second time and were less satisfied. I wanted the same mushroom tofu burger, but they were out of it. So I chose the seitan kale burger, again without a bun. As the previous time, service was slow, but the burger was clearly not freshly prepared. It was warm, but not hot. It did not have much flavor. I appreciated that they accommodated me, again - no bun, an addition of some avocado slices. I also ordered the hot chocolate, which used plant-based “milk” and cocoa, and no sugar beyond that, which is why I ordered it. It was not hot enough. My spouse had the club sandwich - OK, not amazing, and an americano, which he said...
Read moreI stopped by for a slice of cake. I’m usually not a fan of vegetarian desserts, but this one was… not bad. Nutty, soft, with a creamy layer — though I honestly couldn’t tell what the cream was made of.
That’s the tricky part with veggie desserts — you never quite know what’s in them, and whether it’s all-natural or just a mix of stabilizers and emulsifiers.
It actually felt cozier sitting outside than inside. The interior didn’t really feel warm or inviting — maybe it was the lighting, maybe something else.
But I did love the vintage floral plates.
Mixed feelings overall. Not bad, not quite my...
