The restaurant itself is worthy of a visit, thanks to its decoration and layout, you will have a very pleasant dinning experience.
Starting with service it's best to book in advance which you can do online or by telephone and it seems to be pretty efficient. The reception you get when you arrive is good.
However, the waiting service could be better. Carla certainly has alot of potential and she has good gastronomic knowledge. But she shouldn't assume that if your a pilgrim or look foreign that she should speak in English, after all we are in Santiago de Compostela, I and my partner only speak in Spanish! The red wine I asked if we could order she said didn't exist and when I said (being the client or customer) that as I lived near the winery and know the owner that was not the case her mood changed and she became quite cold (http://www.adegasameiras.com/es/vinos/vina-do-avo-tinto/).
As for the food we tried the cuttlefish croquettes in its own ink with tiny potato sticks that didn't make any sense being crispy like the croquettes & too salty. The flavours inside were good but a bit dense. The sardines with bread were good and a decent size although flavours were overpowered with base of tomatoes and olive oil. The crab cannelloni was tasty a bit unbalanced with lots of sauce and not enough pasta, the San Simón cheese flavour was just about noticeable. The portion of bread came in handy for dunking in sauce so probably was the best dish. There was far too long a wait between the first two plates and the cannelloni. The house red was ok but of even less quality than the average red I asked for which Carla said didn't exist.
Overall not the best dinning experience but there were hints of quality like the use of good quality local ingredients, good presentation and tasty dishes. The team look well organised and although small the kitchen looks well run. But for me it doesn't warrant such a high rating so definitely...
Read moreWe were very excited to eat here, given a recommendation from a Galician friend and the fantastic reviews. However, it turned out to be a frustrating and disappointing experience due to very poor service. I had reserved a table over a week in advance to celebrate finishing the Camino and Father’s Day with my dad, so it was a special lunch for us, but we both left in a bad mood because we were consistently disregarded and disrespected by our waiter. It was to such a degree that it is hard to believe it was unintentional. We were the only non-Spaniards in the room, so I can only imagine this was the cause; despite both being fluent in Spanish. We were the second table seated when they opened, but the last to have their order taken, and the last served. The waiter did not check on our table even one time in the entire meal, only coming by to drop off new food and (sometimes) take the empty plates with him. Ordering a second drink took about 5 minutes of trying to catch his eye and finally waving at him and having to rather loudly call out to get him to look at us. This was 45 minutes into our meal, and our glasses had been empty for some time. Our interactions with him were also underwhelming, where he didn’t want to share recommendations or chat at all, contrary to how I saw him behave over the course of an hour with every single other table. Laughing, smiling, chatting, and constantly checking in on them. Bringing fresh drinks. Clearing the table. All while we were essentially left to rot. The food itself was quite good, but I’m sorry to say I don’t think I could go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone. Almost 800km of walking was supposed to culminate in this celebratory meal, and frankly, I wish we had gone to the mercado de abastos instead. I do not recall ever feeling so snubbed or disrespected at any restaurant as I did here.
If you do go, the pulpo a Feria was very nice; it somehow tasted like...
Read moreFor our last day in Galicia we decided to reserve a table at A Noiesa in Santiago de Compostela. We were a group of four and the food was exceptional. From the mejillones which were large tasty and jucy. Las navajas were of the size I prefer rather than the smaller ones we have been getting in a number of other places. The garlic and parsley sauce on the navajas was a nice touch. Empanada de merluza was very good and a change from the many times tried bacalao o zambuninas. Pulpo was great although slightly heavy on the pimenton mash. My steak was to die for and was cooked too the sweet spot-rare. Rounded off with the house cheese cake which was lovely snd creamy and just had a touch of coziness to it. All in all a fine way to finish off another memorable holiday in Galicia hasta la proxima Fernando Nieto viajando por Galicia y visitando de Londres 3 septiembre 2025 hemos vuelto a Noiesa porque la experiences era tan buena el ano pasado.
