Spent a night here in late May 2025 as part of a long weekend in Galicia. We got a taxi from Santiago airport (cost about 25 Euros) and arrived at the hotel around 10pm. Check in was swift and we were in our room less than 10 minutes after arriving.||We were given a twin room with both beds pushed together. The decor was a mix of traditional and contemporary, and we particularly liked the wooden floors. There was good storage space, a large TV and fast Wi-Fi, together with a desk and chair if you want to do any work. As is common in Spanish hotels there were no tea and coffee-making facilities, but as we were only staying one night this was not an issue.||The bathroom again was decorated in the same style as the bedroom, and was immaculately clean. There was a large sink with lots of space around it for storing toiletries, and a shower bath with good quality shampoo and shower gel provided.||We were on a bed and brekfast rate, and after checking in went out for dinner. The hotel is located close to the cathedral and there a lot of restaurants in walking distance- we chose Cafe Bar Derby across the road from the hotel and were very happy with our decision. We had breakfast in the hotel the next morning, and were impressed with the choice and quality.||After a brief walk to the cathedral we checked out of the hotel for the short to the railway station to catch our train to A Coruna. We enjoyed our brief stay at Hotel Compostela, and would recommend it as a place to stay...
Read moreI don't usually write this kind of reviews.. but i had to. Just so you know what are you getting yourself into. The location of the place was great. It was clean, But unfortunately the hospitality no so good. They sent you a super welcoming message that for the price of the hotel you are happy to get.
I walked the camino from Burgos to Compostela 500+ km. I wanted to treat myself with a nice place to stay at the end of my journey, which i did. I thought i did.. Walking for days, tired, in pain. I dragged myself to the supermarket, got some food, wine and water.. when i got to my room, i called reception to get a wine opener. They said i needed to get it myself... i had to go and find it in the cafeteria of the hotel.. and hang up. Okay.. i went and looked for it. The lady at the cafeteria said to me: - you need to bring me the wine.. this is the only wine opener i have- if i give it to you where do i find another one?!- i looked at her, i couldn't believe it! I just wanted to open by bottle of wine. Had to came back to my room. No strength to have an argument. i just said to her that I won't even think about asking for towels.. because i would probably have to go to the laundry room and even folded myself.
Some people at the reception were nice..but the guys in the afternoon.. they just don't care. I was planning to stay a second night, but i couldn't stand it.
If you are looking for a central place. Decent, pricey, but not so welcoming when you are there.....
Read moreThis is a long review but wirth the read. Please be aware there are no tea or coffee facilities in room. I feel that this is unacceptable in a 4 star hotel. I have traveled to to many Spanish cities in the last few months and this is not a normal custom.Having been out all day, I returned to hotel at 9pm and entered cafeteria for a cup of tea to take to my room. I was chased by a member of staff who told me I can't have that, I asked why can't I have a cup of tea, and the member of staff asked me for my room number, which I gave them. I went to reception to clarify to which I found out that tea and coffee is not complentry. On asking at reception I was told this was normal. Which I a disagree with. I was told that paying for bed and breakfast I would be able to drink tea or coffee from 7am until 10.30 am for free. Let's say 6 cups. But would be charged for 1 cup at 9pm. This is ridiculous and have spoken to other guests who agree. I would strongly advise you to stay somewhere else. For example at breakfast you can eat for 3 hours. Cosume alot of food but can't have 1 tea bag for free in the evening. Ridiculous theory. I will not be...
