Coming from the Midlands I think I know a decent curry house, and this is far from a decent curry house. Starters were Chicken Tikka and Sheek Kebabs, which are pretty standard fare and usually a good marker to judge the food and what to expect. The Chicken Tikka came on cold metal dish, dry, bland and clearly not from a tandoor oven. Sheek Kebab similar but the palest looking Sheek Kebabs I have ever witnessed. Both served with a watered down version of mango purée (using the word “chutney” would be an insult to the word) and a garlic alioli (I think?) For mains, we had Chicken Jalfrezi and a side of Okra (which was recommended by the waiter, Rohit) Again, we choose a familiar dish to give us a chance to compare with other Chicken Jalfrezi’s we have tried - this has to be the worst. Nothing in this curry resembled any Chicken Jalfrezi we have ever tasted, the meat was hard and dry, the sauce bland and stew-like with green beans, peppers and onions. There was nothing fresh about this dish, it was a basic gravy with a pinch of chilli powder and precooked chicken added. The Okra was soft and greasy, again bland and overcooked. The tandoori roti”s had never seen the light of a tandoor oven, dry and possibly precooked and reheated. The pilau rice was OK, but soft and overcooked. The waiter was a nice young guy called Rohit who was willing to chat and talk about his future, which I’m sure will take him to...
Read moreDuring our stay in Los Gigantes we went to different places (to be fair, i don't name it, everybody has to make his/her own experiences and it is still subjective opinion) which had all good recommendations (4,5+) but to be honest, i couldn't understand how these places got these ratings. From my point of view it can't be only because of the quality of the food or maybe there is just a different understanding of quality. However by accident we smelled indian spices on the street and so we found Punjab Sizzling. Little hidden cause you have to go up the stairs to get into the restaurant. But now to the point, here we found the best quality food in Los Gigantes. Super delicious, chicken korma, chicken tikka korma, chicken tikka marsala (all medium spiced), the naan bread with garlic and koriander - just a taste-explosion in your mouth! We went there 4 times (incl. take away) always super delicious. This is a place i can recommend which definetely deserves a very good rating. That the Staff is friendly and authentic comes on top. Many thanks for that...
Read moreThere are lots of places in Los Gigantes if you want steak, fish, pasta and pizza etc, which is what makes the Punjab Sizzling stand out a bit.
If you like a curry, then look no further!
Its changed names over the years (I think it was Krishnas when we first visited) but the layout and cuisine remains pretty much unchanged.
They have a broad selection of dishes available, with a lot of vegetarian options too (they'll do veg, paneer, or a soy alternative for pretty much every dish) and you can select the heat level you desire for pretty much everything too (I like hot, and they pretty much hit the nail on the head for me!)
When we last visited they had one waiter serving, and he looked pretty harried in all fairness to him. Despite this he was friendly and attentive throughout. We've never had to wait ling to be served, and the food has always been enjoyable
During the festive season this is a great place to dine whilst watching the processions pass on the street below (kings night stands out as a...
