Making it here on attempt three after going by their inconsistent hours listed on Google, we sat down at a small table in the corner and were actively ignored by staff for over 90 minutes. Finally managing to order a round of drinks and 6 tapas plates from a passive aggressive waiter, we waited patiently, watching locals being jovially served around us while we were actively ignored.
After an hour of being avoided and treated with utter contempt by the staff, we'd only recieved 4 of the 6 tapas plates we'd ordered (which had all been aggressively thrown down on the table in front of us) so we assumed that the last 2 plates were never going to arrive. Unable to get the attention of the staff and annoyed by how unwelcome we felt, we decided it just wasn't worth it. We decided to leave.
Requesting our cheque, the exacerbated waiter rolled his eyes at us when we asked that the 2 plates we'd never received be taken off the account. Taking our credit card, he inadvertently processed it twice, which, thankfully, we discovered just after leaving the restaurant. We returned immediately to have it rectified and were met with apologies but frankly, it was too little too late. We walked out hungry, tired and annoyed.
Overall, just an absolutely awful experience. After visiting multiple tapas bars and restaurants all over Sevilla, this one really left a bad taste in my mouth, pardon the pun. While the establishment is undoubtedly beautiful and steeped in culture and history, the disdainful service and lack of care for customers is simply unforgivable. Working in the food industry myself, I'm genuinely shocked that a restaurant can rest on its laurels while they continue to treat patrons with such utter contempt. Whether it's a dislike for tourists or an inability to cope with the crowds, it shouldn't be the fault of the eager patrons who come here expecting a taste of Sevilla.
I was genuinely looking forward to coming here after seeing it listed on multiple websites relating to tapas, but all I can personally recommend is that you avoid it at all costs and read the other one star reviews written online because they're not wrong. The food is mediocre at best, and I wish I'd done more research before I gave them my time and my money. There's so many incredible places to eat in Sevilla, sadly this just isn't...
Read moreI want to preface this by saying we had two absolutely incredible meals at Casa Morales. We were in Seville for seven nights, and had such a great experience the first night, we decided to come back twice more. The second night was even better than the first, food was delicious and we spent the night recommending it to other tourists we'd got to know.
Sadly, the same cannot be said of the third night, which was possibly the worst experience I've had in a restaurant ever. The waiters we had for the previous two nights seemed to be away or assigned to a different part of the restaurant. Instead, we were served by a lady with curly grey hair, who was rude to us from the moment we got her attention.
Starting by criticising our Spanish (which has been perfectly passable for every other waiter we have tried our best with on the trip), she then sighed and rolled her eyes at what we ordered. She told us we weren't allowed to order a 'media racion' of a dish we had loved the previous night - goats cheese with marmalade - despite it being on the menu. She told us dishes were unavailable, then brought them to other customers. She practically threw our plates and glasses across the counter at us. And when our first dish arrived - the aforementioned goats cheese, it was barely warmed up. I spent the next 10 minutes trying to get the attention of a waiter, and finally caught her eye - at which point she widened her eyes, motioned as if she had a headache, and turned away from me to go elsewhere, as if she didn't have time to talk to us. None of our dishes arrived during the time period - instead all of them sitting on the pass ahead of us.
Eventually, we felt so upset by how we'd been treated I went and found one of the waiters we had had the previous night. While I found him, another waiter finally spoke to my partner, and hastily brought over 4 dishes at once. He then listened to her complaint about the goat's cheese, prompting the curly grey haired waiter to stare intensely at my partner, making her feel deeply uncomfortable.
This utterly ruined our last night in Seville. The only saving grace was the waiter from the previous night was deeply apologetic, and allowed us to leave...
Read moreThe worst dining experience I have ever had. I went with my mum (on her birthday) for a quick bite to eat after walking around the Cathedral.
We initially were severed by a lovely waiter who was then busy and didn’t continue to serve us. We then sat and the restaurant was busy with people, local people and tourists wanting a table for lunch.
We sat, waited to order which wasn’t a problem as we were not in a rush however our waiter was very stressed and rushed and had a bad attitude. When it came to order, we didn’t get given a menu with any prices nor does the menu written on the walls have prices. We ordered tapas style dishes and then at the end were overcharged us for ordering the grande Jamon - we never wanted the large one we just wanted tapas style but because the waiter was in such a rush he didn’t care to take the time to understand what we actually wanted. We ordered some items - half of which never came.
In addition to this the table before us were over charged and they queried their bill and also there was another tourist couple on the table high up next to us which ordered two dishes and they were charged €100. It felt like this waiter just didn’t care, didn’t want to understand us or give us the time of day and just charged us with the most expensive thing as he was bitter.
If you don’t want to serve or have tourists in your restaurant - don’t accept them. Or to the waiter who served us - if you don’t want to work with people, don’t work in a restaurant especially one which clearly is famous and is going to attract tourists.
The manager proceeded to tell me our waiter was a psychologist and had to work there as in Spain there isn’t many jobs, which I have compassion for I really do but seriously if you have learnt psychology surely you realise and have the ability to manage your emotions and know how to manage stress.
The food wasn’t even worth it and the service was rude, terrible and made us feel small and like we were an inconvenience to be there.
Terrible experience - not worth it. I appreciate that we don’t speak Spanish and we are clearly an inconvenience but there is no need for that level of rudeness and lack of basic...
