Don't waste your time visiting this damn place and I visit Spain every year and this place is the worst you can visit. I arrived with my family of 5 people, including children, and we arrived at the door of this little respected place and the waiters saw us in the room. They looked at us at the door and nothing, we were at the door for almost 15 minutes until I went and told them that we had to do something to eat because we had been at the door for 15 minutes and they didn't care at all...... they sent us through with a tremendously bad attitude and they told us to sit at a small table for 4 people and I told them that the table was very small and we sat at another one that was next to it that was for 6 and they told us to get up from the table it was a girl and with a very bad attitude and he told us that that table was for 6 and I told him that we were going to order a lot of food that there was not going to be space in that table for 4 with us being 5 people and with very bad manners as did another waiter who was with her Same bad attitude, I mean we had to leave because they treated us very badly and with bad faces....the truth is very bad manners and I told them we'll leave if they don't want to serve us correctly and sit at a table for 6 being 5 and there were also several Empty tables but I have never found people in Spain as poorly educated as in Seville, very poorly educated in different places. The truth is, I traveled every year and I, nor any friend or family, will never return to Seville again, I told them before I left. that they were poorly educated and that I was going to make sure that this place remains ridiculous forever and that no one else visits it......The truth is with the need that there is in Spain in general and in Seville much more than many other cities… Don't go to this place, they are very poorly educated, a tall and skinny waiter with little hair and the other girl has light brown hair, very poorly educated and very arrogant, just like the other waiter....My wife asked to speak to the manager. and they said no, he didn't have time, he was busy, and I told my wife, let's get out of here, we came on vacation and not to spend work with poorly educated people who don't want to work, much less do we have to be in a place with people. with bad attitudes and bad manners. I also have photos of these people which I will put on Yelp and on various social networks so that they can find out and see the type of people they have in this...
Read moreThis isn't a Spanish restaurant, it's a restaurant in Seville to capture reviews and tourists.
We were a "walk up 6" for a meal at 8pm, stupidly checked google reviews outside.
It's new inside, made to look aged. Alarm bells should have rang when I realised there wasn't a stand up bar, typically found in most Spanish restaurants and virtually zero obvious Spanish people at the tables. All Northern European and American accents.
Menu variety is completely generic. Didn't see any specials of the day posted.
Drinks were ordered and delivered promptly.
The waiting staff were excellent in general, until mains arrived then were hard to attract for the bill, they are too busy turning tables. Us along with several others had to approach the till area to ask for bills.
Selection of iberico meats was an obvious pre prepared plate with possibly the most bland Manchego ever, supermarket grade meats.
Dogfish/adobo overly sour as opposed to marinaded, heavily battered.
Tomato tuna garlic salad, bitter and very strong tinned tuna.
Oxtail stew, just grim, stewed and flavourless and scant.
Deep fried cuttlefish over battered and under-seasoned. Delivered with a tiny lemon wedge. Asked for aioli, thimble sized ramekin arrived.
Fried potatoes possibly cooked yesterday and littered on everything.
Chicken strips..... ? These were breaded strips possibly from a freezer bag served with a blob of sweet BBQ sauce and a big squeeze of plain mayonnaise, that's a new tapas. Again littered with cubed fried potatoes.
White wine adequate but overpriced for the quality, even in a restaurant.
The Cava was a mini bottle of a common worldwide brand, similar to those served on airplanes with a plastic screw top.
Water is not available in large bottles, that's just a simple con.
There's just so much good food to be had in Seville, but just definitely not here.
Best recommendation :...
Read moreAmidst Sevilla’s architectural tapestry lies Bar Postiguillo Tapas, a culinary chronicle set within a house born of the 18th century’s architectural ambitions. A former fish market ordained with Roman columns, this tapas bar bears the wisdom of the Marquis of Torrenueva’s bygone era. The interior is a scene from an Andalusian theatre play; bull heads survey the room, wooden footbridges invite the eyes upward, and oversized wheel lamps cast a golden hue over convivial gatherings.
The tapas, generous and brimming with creativity, are a homage to the Andalusian spirit of abundance and flair. Local produce stars in dishes like the camembert breaded with shrimp and pumpkin jam, a delightful innovation, while the croquettes pay homage to Spanish culinary tradition. And then, the sardine, a simple fish, elevated to an art form, nearly compelling a flawless score from even the most discerning palates. As for the desserts, the cheesecake stands as a testament to their understanding that every meal should end with a moment of sweet reflection.
Service here dances to a rhythm of contrast; some waiters perform an attentive ballet, while others seem lost in the very history the walls embody.
For those wandering the historic streets, the proximity to significant landmarks like the Royal Shipyards and the Postigo Arch enriches the experience, infusing every bite with the essence of Sevilla. Bar Postiguillo Tapas, thus, earns a well-deserved four out of five stars, a place where history and gastronomy embrace amidst the clamor of contented diners and the clinking of cold beer glasses, rumored to be the...
