We spent a week in Sevilla, and this was our least favorite restaurant by far. From the moment we arrived, the vibe was just off. This place was the epitome of a tourist trap, with overpriced tapas, mediocre food, and a “fancy” atmosphere that didn’t match the rest of the elements of the restaurant. We fell the for the good reviews, and by the end of our dinner, we were pretty confused by the whole experience.
The food wasn’t bad, but it lacked flavor, and everything was highly overpriced. We’ve gone to fancy tapas restaurants in and outside of Spain — this wasn’t it. The tapas were no better than any other fast-casual tapas place, yet the prices were quite steep, and the portions were small. We were also shocked by how quickly the food kept coming out… In a city and country that’s known for people taking their time and not rushing, this was a huge red flag. Even with a bottle of wine, we had to try hard to make our dinner last an hour. This led me to believe that all the tapas were already pre-made. There's nothing wrong with that, but why are they so expensive if they’re not even fresh?
This brings me to my next point… the service. The service was just weird. The servers were hovering over our shoulders the whole time. It was bizarre. We couldn’t finish a dish without them being steps away and coming by and removing our plates or asking if we needed anything else. It wasn’t just our table — it seemed they were rushing everyone, even though the restaurant wasn’t crowded and they weren’t closing for another two hours.
All in all, I’d not recommend this place. There are so many incredible places to dine in Sevilla, and this isn’t...
Read moreThe jamon iberico was very strange. It had an odd oil placed on top of it that I could not identify. It may have been peanut oil. I'm not sure of the purpose because jamon iberico is among the most delightful hams in the world and you don't need to add anything to it. The service was horrific. No one asked me for water. No one asked me for a second drink. It seems like multiple waiters were more concerned with telling people that they were filled. Even though there were lots of empty tables around waiting to be used for reservations. I understand that you have to save tables for reservations, but maybe put one person in charge of telling people your full, there's no reservations and not three people. On the positive side, the sangria was great and the octopus was outstanding. Pity though I only was allowed to get one glass of sangria by the staff.
Edit: To test owners theory that I am ignorant of Jamon Iberico I have eaten it daily in Spain, several different cities. It's always delicious and while it does glisten with natural fats, it's not soaked in oil that is bad tasting as was the case at this restaurant. Clearly the owner is arrogant and does not want feedback. My family is in the business, my advice to you is watch what your staff is doing to the poor Iberian ham--the greatest ham in the world. You may be surprised and can make some positive changes. No need to thank me. FYI so much oil that when I tilted my plate it could drip...
Read moreMy partner and I looked forward to going to this restaurant for our anniversary and frankly, it was a huge disappointment. We cannot fathom how it possibly has 4.7 stars. This restaurant is a tourist trap and we do not recommend it at all. The food was just ok, but the fact that it was so overpriced just made it taste worse.
However, the service was the most off-putting part—our waiter kept pushing us to order more dishes, and when we gave in to give the mediocre food a second chance, he gave us the wrong item and then made it seem like was our fault. He reluctantly replaced the dish with the one we actually ordered without apologizing a single time. We then saw him whispering to another waiter while looking in our direction, as if we did something wrong—this made us feel uncomfortable and was very unprofessional.
To top everything off, when we got our bill we saw that they charged us for the item we did NOT order and for bread we did not ask for. Yes, the complementary bread that every restaurant gives you at the beginning of a meal. And the fact that they had the audacity to charge us for an item we did not order—that they mistakenly brought us—was simply ludicrous. At this point, we were so unimpressed by the whole experience that we tried to leave as quickly...
