As you can see from my previous reviews I don’t leave bad ones but this place upset me so much I cannot understand how they are in business. Waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to be seated, was put on a list in which locals were favoured and put first as soon as they walked in the door, whilst me and my partner waited standing out in a back street where they put us. We are the first ones to be put outside to wait and the last ones to be called for our table of 2. When seated we waited a further 15 minutes to be asked for our drink order, I proceeded to ask if we can order food in which the waiter just walks away from me. 10 minutes later food order is taken, we are told several items on the menu are not available, mid way through taking our order as they are so busy the waiter walks off again. When he comes back I order burratta salad, Chinese chicken and steak with Padron peppers. The Chinese chicken comes out prompt and was delicious hence the star rating.
30 minutes later after several members of staff are looking wondering why we are sitting without any food the waiter comes over (after 30 minutes!) and tells me there is no burrata now. I was getting pretty upset at this point and asked how long would the steak be then? The waiter grunts and walks to the kitchen (clearly the steak order was forgotten) the steak is made within minutes. Me and my partner eat (again nice food) but I am so upset by the experience I now want to leave. We are presented a bill with bread on (everyone in the restaurant was given bread other than us) I tell the waiter we did not have bread and this must be removed, he tells me this can be for service. I expressed my dissatisfaction for this and clearly he could see how upset we were and took it away to change it immediately. No apology, nothing just silence when putting in my card details.
I have never ever been to a restaurant with such poor service and I have eaten all around the world. It ruined our last night in Seville. Do not believe the hype if you are not Spanish you will be...
Read moreStepping into Ovejas Negras Tapas is like diving into the vibrant heart of Seville's culinary scene. From the moment you arrive, you can feel the buzz of excitement, a testament to its well-deserved popularity. Let's talk about the food – it's simply exceptional. The beef tacos, in particular, are a revelation. Tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, they're a must-try for any visitor. But honestly, every dish that graced our table was a masterpiece, showcasing the creativity and passion of the chefs. What truly elevates the experience, however, is the warmth and attentiveness of the staff. They're not just serving food; they're creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to offer recommendations made us feel like valued guests. The atmosphere itself is electric, a lively blend of locals and tourists all enjoying the shared experience of fantastic tapas. It's a place where conversations flow easily, and laughter fills the air. It is very popular, and that is a testiment to the quality of the food and service. So, here's a friendly tip: arrive early or make a reservation to avoid disappointment. This gem of a tapas bar is rightfully busy, and you won't want to miss out on the culinary delights it has to offer. In short, Ovejas Negras Tapas is a culinary adventure that I wholeheartedly recommend. It's a place where food, service, and atmosphere come together to create an unforgettable...
Read moreWe were fortunate enough to have gotten a table without a reservation, mainly because we came early. After 8:30 the place will fill up pretty quickly, so reserve beforehand to not be disappointed.
Known for its fusion tapas, we opted for: 🥟 Chicken gyoza - excellent! Served with sautéed julienned vegetables and hoisin sauce, which is a surprising and lovely twist to the original. 🍗 Chicken wings - crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Well executed fry, but the (cheap tasting) bbq sauce that slathered it leaves so much to be desired. Ended up stripping off the sauce. 🍜 Chicken & vegetable wok with fried noodles - I’m Asian and this is disappointing, not because it didn’t taste authentic, but because there was too much (sweet) sauce which rendered it almost inedible. A little restraint in the sauce would have produced a better outcome.
🍰 Loved the dessert though, which was a jar of cheesecake with strawberry compôte and a crumble topping.
The servers was very efficient, helpful and friendly, given my limited Spanish. Overall a good experience and the prices were very fair. This is the only reason I will return to try their pork cheeks and risotto which looked really good and was recommended.
Even then, I’m left wondering how they got their Michelin mention when there are plenty of nearby locations serving more...
