Bodeguita Casablanca — Restaurant in Seville

Wow! What an experience! Honestly, I was Attracted to the bar by it's name! Probably similarly to a lot of people.

The bar is fantastically kitted out, with traditional pictures or old seville (bulls, flamenco dancers, classic mosaics etc.) Also the drinks (we had sangria and malbec were fantastic).

Why one star? Am I a complainer?

This is my first time ever leaving a one star (even low level) review. Having worked years in the service industry, I'm a very understanding patron. So what happened?

The outside was full so we asked to sit indoors. No problem. We ordered drinks. They came.

Here's where the problems started. As we were drinking, the waiter asked us what food we would like to order. As we had already eaten, we replied that we were fine with the drinks we had. Apparently this is unacceptable. We were told to order food or we would have to stand outside. We had already eaten and just wanted a drink. But Ok, let's order some tapas. There is nothing on the menu in terms of tapas for less than 12 euro. Seemingly having no other option, we ordered a sweet to share whilst finishing our drinks.

If they had told us before ordering drinks that to sit inside, we needed to order food... Honestly... We would have been annoyed. But we would have just left. This was worse. They let us order drinks first and then told us we had to order food!

We felt extremely rushed to finish said drinks because as potential clients came in queuing, the waiters were already offering our table to them. The other customers who were eating main meals were fully attended to by the waiters. Us.... Ignored. When I called out to the waiter, whose attention I could not attract (I wanted to ask for the bill), he stared at me and then ignored me, looking at me as if I had annoyed him.

I walked to the bar in order to get out of there asap. The man behind the bar did not ask me if I wanted another drink or whether he could get me some food. He handed me the bill without a word and did the same to another gentleman next to me. I paid and said "Gracias". He ignored me and I left with my partner.

I have never met such arrogant staff in my life and having worked management for years in the service industry.

If you immediately indicate that you'll be a big spender, enjoy! If you want to go for a drink or take it slow then avoid...

If I could select zero starts, I would. The service has awful attitude and you don't get what you order. We ordered a tapa of Russian salad among other dishes, what they brought were 2 portions of prawn salad which wasn't that bad but definitely not worth 16 Euro (again, not what we ordered). The worst part was confronting the manager, a tall, thin older man behind the bar, who just waved us off saying "you ate it, you pay". We kept repeating that is fine, we will pay for it even it is not what we have ordered but we insisted that they give us an explanation. To which he said that the tapas are only for the clients sitting inside, not in the terrace. Not one waiter mentioned that when asking us where would we like to seat. Overall, the whole experience was dodgy, but what I must highlight is the arrogant manager behind the bar. Will never repeat as paying for what we haven't ordered is not our cup of tea. Both me and my wife are working in hosteleria here in Spain and we would never ever dare to treat any client such a way....

Ridiculous pricy and deceiving! We ordered clams in curry sauce, they served us literally 7 clams (which were very bad) and charged us 20€ for this portion, while in the menu it says 7€ for 100gr. The price in the menu makes you think it’s a tapas (Spanish typical small portion) and when we asked why they charged us this price, they said that they brought us 280 grams of clams, without actually asking us how many grams of seafood we would like, and that this is the way they work. The same with the fried baby squid portion. They decided to make the portion of 200gr and charge accordingly. 75€ in total to eat 200 grams of fried squid, 7 clams, 1 simple salad, 2 tiny salmorejo, 2 small beers and 1 water. And about the service, we had to ask 3 times if someone could take our order, since we were seated for more than 10 minutes and nobody would attend our table. Worst food experience in...
