We were so excited to have a night of Italian after 7 nights of Spanish food. From the get go this was a horrible experience. We stood at the counter for 10 minutes before we were greeted. Once seated it was an additional 10-15 minutes before we were able to place a drink order. We ordered a bottle of wine and the guy opened it, placed it on our table and walked away. No one had us test it or pour a glass for us. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs and they said they were out of it. An Italian restaurant that is out of spaghetti and meatballs and we are the first seating of the evening?! I ordered bolognese and my husband carbonara and they were both reminiscent of a low end chain restaurant. I also ordered a side of Parmesan and it looked like Kraft Parmesan, not freshly grated parm. I lived in Italy for a year and I know that neither of our pastas were freshly made. Super disappointing experience from...

No amount of additional pepper could knock it out. It was quite bizarre. Was the sugar added to the pasta itself? Or was it in the Parmesan?? Because we both experienced the same thing.. My pasta was also undercooked, and both dishes were dry: they completely lacked any sauce. The Tiramisú Clásico was ok.. basically a jar of cream/mascarpone with about a tablespoon of sponge at the bottom (definitely not enough). All in all, we were very disappointed. We were really looking to this meal. We wanted to speak to the manager but he was too busy with a large party of people, so we just paid the...
Read moreArrived here at lunchtime on a Wednesday in June 2017, hadn't booked but they were able to accommodate us (6 people) but I would recommend booking as it was popular.
The restaurant is almost hidden away on a quiet street leading away from the river, in through the doors there is a glass floor exposing the Wells and architecture below.
The restaurant is in the 16th century Royal Mint and has lots of character and charm.
The menu is in Spanish only, and the staff speak varying amounts of English so be prepared to test out your translation skills of you're not fluent.
The food is lovely, we had a selection of breads, pizza and pasta and everything was really nice. The service was quick and the portions were quite big, a pizza could easily fed two.
If your after something different and non touristy then I would highly recommend...
