Disgraceful Service
I feel compelled to express my profound dissatisfaction with the service we experienced at Ditaly. Without question, this was one of the most unprofessional and disappointing dining experiences I have encountered.
We reserved a table online for 9 PM and arrived promptly just before that time. However, the staff appeared unaware of our reservation, and we had to wait for a table to become available.
Once seated, the staff showed no effort to engage with us. After approximately ten minutes, I requested a menu, only to be directed toward a QR code and met with an attempt to dismiss us. I requested a printed menu, which was eventually provided. Beyond that, there was no follow-up or effort to take our order until I managed to attract the waiter’s attention.
We ordered two pizzas and a bottle of Rosé wine. It took another ten minutes for the wine to arrive, and frustratingly, it was not the bottle we had selected. When the mistake was rectified, there was no apology; the staff simply placed the correct wine on the table without pouring it or showing any courtesy. Additionally, we observed that other tables received cutlery, while we were left with only knives, likely leftovers from previous guests, demonstrating a complete lack of attention to detail and care.
Around 10 PM, tables that arrived after us began to receive their meals. I approached a senior staff member to inquire about our order status. His dismissive attitude and shrugging response were unacceptable. Our first pizza finally arrived, only to be removed shortly afterward, claiming it was incorrect, and making us wait again for a replacement.
Throughout the meal, the staff completely ignored us, failing to check if everything was satisfactory or if we needed anything else. We decided against ordering dessert, as they never asked if we would like one. When we finally requested the bill and again expressed our dissatisfaction with the service and delays, the situation escalated. The waiter became aggressive, claiming delays of up to two hours were normal, and refused to accept responsibility for the poor service, citing understaffing and blaming management. In my opinion, three waiters working that shift should have been sufficient for the number of tables.
The confrontation intensified into a heated argument, during which I recorded the incident on my phone. I requested to speak with the manager or owner regarding the unacceptable service and staff misconduct. They claimed the manager was unavailable and did not reside in the country. One of the waiters, who appeared to be a senior staff member, stepped outside to make a call. I followed and asked if he was speaking with the manager or owner, expressing my desire to speak with them directly. However, I was told I was not permitted to do so, as they supposedly did not speak English.
At this point, we prepared to leave, but the staff responded with further hostility. We returned to the restaurant to continue our discussion and recording. The staff demanded that I delete my recordings before they would allow us to pay the bill, an unreasonable and coercive request made while blocking the exit.
We finally settled the bill around 10:50 PM amid continued hostility from the staff as we left.
This experience was, without exaggeration, the worst service I have encountered at any restaurant globally. Given Seville’s reputation for excellent hospitality, this failure to meet even basic standards is particularly disappointing.
Notably, the restaurant was not crowded, and other diners experienced similar delays and lack of service. For example, a nearby table of four received only one meal initially and waited over twenty minutes for the rest. Other patrons had to come downstairs from the first floor to ask for their bill, further exemplifying the unprofessionalism of this establishment.
I strongly advise against visiting Ditaly when in Seville, as the level of service is utterly...
Read moreDear tourist, make sure you get what you order(!)
I rarely give 1 star, but I am sure this time it was fully earned by DITALY staff.
I ordered focaccia with pastrami (picture from their menu) and got focaccia with ham (cheaper ingredient) and pickle - the sandwich, that's not even on their menu!
When I kindly pointed out that this is probably not my sandwich, the waitresses shortly answered: “I do not know how they make pastrami in other restaurants, but this is our pastrami” Minute later I came back showing her the picture on their menu and then, she right away apologized saying that she had forgot her glasses (?!?)and took my sandwich to prepare it with a real pastrami.
I hate those practice of some restaurant treating tourists as of they never eaten in other restaurants and cutting costs by serving different ingredients.
Of course, if this was a mistake of a waitresses who needed a picture from their menu for comparison AND their cook, who prepared a meal not from the menu, then - dear restaurant owner - at least you should be...
Read moreThe pizza was amazing, we asked to have stracciatella burrata added (it costed 6,90 and other cheeses 2-3€ which was weird)! We came really late and asked if we can still order and then they said yes. After like half an hour they put the music down and started closing and we were still eating and having drinks. At 23.30 we were still having our drinks and they asked us to leave. I kindly expressed that I would appriciate next time they tell us that we only have hour to order, wait for foods, get them, eat and leave. The waiter started arguing back saying all the customers should check the website or read the door. I think the waiter was being rude after I very kindly just asked they could mention it because it was a new restaurant and we didn’t know what...
