We arrived on time, having booked the roof terrace at 9.30pm, and told the host the name of our booking. We also said the booking was for the terrace. She told us the terrace was full. After some confusion, she realised we had booked and sent us up two flights of stairs to the roof. When we arrived, we were offered the choice of a low table (by the toilets) or a high table, with a view of the Giralda. We opted for the high table and sat. It had not been wiped from the previous users and was wet from their drinks. We were given a food menu and told a wine menu would follow. When the waiter came to take our order, we still had no drinks menu. Then, the wine we ordered was "possibly" not available, but he said he would let us know. A different waiter brought us water and slammed a bottle of wine down on the table, before walking off, which did not resemble the one we had ordered. We finally got hold of someone's attention, who confirmed it was a different wine, though they never asked which we would like instead, nor did they tell us what this was. It was fine. We ordered some berenjenas and veggie paella. The aubergine (like zucchini fries) came quickly and was really good. We were told the paella would be c. 35mins. This was no problem and to be expected. At 11pm, we thought the service was perhaps a little too relaxed and we asked where the paella was. We had to ask two waiters, as the first never came back. Both seemed shocked it had not arrived. We were next presented with a bowl of hummus and an apology, with a promise of paella in 20 minutes. A very hot but very cremated paella turned up (admittedly, not long afterwards) and the flavour was good but it was barely edible. It had crunchy/burnt rice throughout. While we 'ate' this, the staff cleared up the terrace around us and put stools/chairs on the other tables. It was inhospitable and incredibly rude. When we looked around to pay, no one was around. We went up to ask for the bill and said we would not be paying the the paella. They were very apologetic and agreed it was poor service. They said their licence meant they had to close the terrace. We understand that, however, it was certainly not our choice not to receive the food we had ordered until nearly 11.30pm. All style and no substance and there are endless roof terraces in town with better views and...
Read moreStaff were extremely rude from the offset, not sure why. Very dismissive and rolled their eyes when making simply requests like water. Charged €1.50 each for bread and service, we received neither. A large piece of calamari was found in a vegetarian (aubergine) starter- Alerted staff to this due to allergy risk and just a shrug, no apology. Food arrived sporadically and no one actually ate together. Very slow service. Calamari in the paella was not real fish, was fake and plasticky. Friend’s steak that was $24 was chewy and dry. Asked for more bottled water and they said they had run out. Asked instead for tap water for the table and the waitress begrudgingly came back with one small glass of tap water between the 5 of us. I tried to politely catch the waitress’ attention to ask for something and she waved me away. At the end, I asked to pay half cash half card. The waitress was extremely rude in her manner and a colleague had to come and take over as she was initially telling us she would not accept our payment. Her colleague then happily accepted. We have had a lovely experience in every other restaurant in Seville with great food and service, but unfortunately this was a really poor experience to end our holiday. There is no need for dismissive / rude service when we are paying and well...
Read moreI visited this restaurant during my trip to Sevilla. The place itself is beautiful, but that’s the only good thing I can say about it. When I arrived, the staff brought us to our table and we sat down. We weren’t given a menu and had to flag down the waiter to ask for menus, at least 5 minutes after sitting down. While waiting, I watched another waitress collect half eaten bread in the bread baskets, and put them to the side, to add 1 or 2 slices to the baskets before giving them to another table. We ended up getting a half-eaten slice of bread in our basket. Also, I watched her wipe down each table with a rag and prepare the basket with the same hands, without hand washing or gloves.
We only ordered 2 things, and the waiter told us it would take 15 minutes for the paella to come out. Our tapas plate came out first, and we couldn’t eat it right away because we didn’t even have forks on the table. We had to flag him down for forks to eat. The paella came out 35 minutes after we ordered it. The food wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t super good.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience to have to ask for basic things like forks and menus, while the staff just stood around on their phones or touching bread with...
